(Example used from the EHIC)
Some may not be aware, but it is in some cases more than five years since some of us applied for the EHIC Card which replaced the old E111 (Ceased on 1st January 2006). Some applied for their cards in 2004, we did in 2005. This is just a reminder to check your EHIC Cards to ensure they are in date, they are only valid for five years. I have seen some have run out this month already. Worth checking, just in case.
You can follow this link for details on how to renew your card EHIC CARD RENEWAL
Cards can be renewed online, check the link above. As you go down the form it asks if this for renewal.

Thanks Chris for the reminder. I have just doubled checked ours and we are OK until September. When travelling to Corfu and other European destinations, please make sure that you have BOTH the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) AND comprehensive travel insurance (click here to visit the Holiday Links page for insurance). Only last year we had a friend who needed repatriating and it cost in excess of £20,000 and they didn't have insurance. The EHIC covers you for Greek state medical needs, and if any emergency should happen, then you would be taken to the local hosptial, where you will need the EHIC. We all hope that such things won't happen but please be safe!
