This scuba diver was found by John & Lorna harvesting one of the delicacies for 'Clean Monday'. The photo was taken at Seki Bay, and the sea urchins were destined for a few select restaurants in the area. They are eaten raw or tossed in hot pasta.

You've got to give Greek cooking a try, jools, you don't know what you are missing. Tell us what kind of things you do like and I'm sure other members will tell you about some of their favourite local dishes. Many of the most popular dishes are little more than meat, potatoes, tomatoes, pasta, onions, fish etc., just presented in a slightly differrent way. The one thing you can be sure of is that they are prepared freshly every day using locally sourced seasonal products.

Be adventurous jools, and to set an example, for the first time ever, this week we ate 'kinigi' and 'saligaria' - absolutely delicious, but you won't find either of them on the menus in Roda's restaurants - any ideas what they were?

Hi Julie & Steve, you're right I should be a bit more adventurous, trouble is I'm a bit "parky"(for none north easterner's a bit fussy), i tend to mainly eat chicken as I don't like lamb or beef, also i suffer from ibs and alot of spicy and things in sauces upset my stomach, however, every year since we've been coming to roda my mam and I have been going to try one of the fish restaurants but never got round to it definately this year!, joolsd x

You might be thinking of 'kinigou' Kath - poultry to us - Kostas does cook chicken in ouzo but he calls that 'ouzatto'. There is a connection though! Steve

First time for us jacks, but we both tried them with open minds and open mouths - they are delicious, cooked in olive with garlic and parsley. They were so popular we ordered another plate. Interestingly, if anyone is fasting now for Easter, snails are an acceptable dish. Any ideas on 'kinigi'?
