Good morning from Roda. My weather station has not seen sense and restarted, I feel like I constantly missing it, as I used it as a clock as well as for the weather. So, I had no joy in Acharavi, not surprising, so my reports will be a bit limited until I return next month with a brand new all-singing, all-dancing, ultra-modern unit. This morning we have a deep haze with Albania barely visible on the horizon. We have a calm sea and little in the way of a breeze. There is a thick bank of clouds over where Albania should be and we have pretty cotton wool balls floating serenely in the blue sky over us. Looks like another day for just enjoying the nice weather. Though the natives are getting restless and are starting to do rain dances as they are getting very worried about their olive crop. They need rain to plump up the fruit, not too much but enough.
Yesterday stayed lovely and sunny all day, with the usual haze that we have been experiencing. It was slightly less in that we could just make out some detail of the mainland. What clouds there were tended to stay over there until the afternoon when they made a pilgrimage over to us. The afternoon breeze didn’t amount to much and quickly gave up the ghost. There was just an average sort of sunset leading onto a calm windless evening with an almost flat calm sea. The half moon did make an appearance with a retinue of a few stars. It was a pleasant balmy evening with the temperature 25°C at 11.30pm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 7th. September 2019 was 26.0°C. Real feel 22°C and dew point of 22°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 30°C (real feel 32°C), and the minimum was 21.0°C, a dew point of 24°C.
The maximum temperature 7th September 2018 was 29.1°C (real feel 34°C a mostly cloudy day)
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice). We have now reached that time of year were the sun cream has to appear, so easy to burn with this high UV.
DEW POINT Less than 10°C feels dry Between 10°C and 18°C Feels comfortable Between 18°C and 26°C Feels increasingly humid and uncomfortable. At the highest it is unhealthy and even fatal for people with asthma

Good afternoon from Roda. My weather station is still sulking so not a full report. I am sorry. A late report due to our Sunday shift at the recycling followed by a well-deserved breakfast at Pirates with some friends. This afternoon we have been busy with drying cherry tomatoes and now we have jujubes or red dates in the dehydrator. They are neither a date or an apple, though eaten from the tree they taste a bit like an apple, but if they dry, they look and taste like dates. We shall see how it goes.
Back to the weather. We have seen a break in the long fairly constant, hot days of summer. Recently we have had more cloud and during the small hours of the night we had lightning all around us and occasional distant thunder. However, we awoke to a fairly cloud free sky, barely a breath of wind and a sea that was only slightly ruffled. As the morning progressed, we saw a build up of clouds some of them quite menacing, which resulted in a quick spat of rain just after 11am. The haze had lifted quite a bit and Albania was seen quite clearly across the channel. It still feels warm and a bit humid but the temperatures are not quite as high as recently.
Yesterday was a strange day in that the morning started off with pretty white clouds dotted around a pale blue sky with Albania having its usual cap of heavier ones. But as the day progressed, we had a build up of clouds and even a spot of two of rain before those clouds started clearing. The sunset was amazing with the clouds to the east being turned into pink piles of candyfloss, the hills and mountains getting a lilac tinge, but to west there were no clouds and the golden ball of the sun sank beneath the horizon leaving the bottom half of the sky deep red fading upwards to blue. The flat calm waters of the harbour reflecting the whole picture. The silhouettes of the boats and late swimmers just added to the picture. It was another stop, stare and appreciate. The moon was in its setting accompanied by a few friendly stars and joined by some lights from Albania and around the bay. It felt a bit cooler with the temperature at 11.30pm 24°C.
The temperature at 11.00 am on Sunday 8th. September 2019 was 28.0°C. Real feel 30°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 28.5°C (real feel 30°C), and the minimum was 21.0°C.
The maximum temperature 8th September 2018 was 27.2°C (real feel 30°C a day of sunshine and clouds with early morning thunder and a spat of rain before mostly clearing).
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice). This morning dawned very cloudy with Albania lost in the mists, the sea calm and the wind non-existent. It was our turn at the Acharavi recycling centre and we had the usual post weekend pile left outside to deal with. All was going fine until the clouds got dark and threatening and the thunder rumbled. Then the heavens opened. I can tell you that a large parasol meant for the beach doesn’t provide much shelter in torrential rain, and I was slightly worried about all the thunder around us in case it started lightning. The roads were awash, but it did start to ease a bit so we made it to the camper very wet and came home for a quick dry off then back to Acharavi as we had the phone bills to pay for.
Yesterday after the lightning and thunder during the early hours stayed mostly cloudy in the morning, but with less haze. The clouds increased to give us a couple of showers around mid-day, but not all villages near us got them. The skies cleared during the afternoon to give times of sunshine and cloud. Albania appeared across the flat calm sea for a while before once more disappearing behind a veil of haze. The wind and the sea stayed calm for the rest of the day, and there were enough clouds to give us yet another lovely sunset. The skies continued clearing and we got a bright moon and several accompanying stars. We even had some lights from across the channel, aided and abetted by those of a passing liner. I feel that the nights are noticeably cooler and feeling a little chilly late on and early on at dawn.
The temperature at 9.00 am on Monday 9th. September 2019 was 25.0°C. Real feel 26°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 29°C (real feel 30°C), and the minimum was 21.0°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was our final three-hour stint at the recycling at Roda before we leave on Friday, and it was fairly easy until we had a rush at the end. It always means an early start and it was barely light when the alarm went off and decidedly chilly with quite a heavy dew. Once the sun got into gear the temperature rose nicely. It was a clear and cloudless sky when we left home, with a reduction of the haze such that we could get a good view of Albania. There was little in the way of a wind and the sea looked and sounded quite calm with just gentle waves hitting the shoreline.
Yesterday didn’t have the best morning what with the thunder and lightning all around and a heavy down pour. Acharavi got drenched, but there was less in Roda and none at Kavalouri! I expect Karousades and Sidari didn’t get it either. The afternoon saw a great improvement with the sun coming out and the clouds retreating to the mainland. The haze returned so that Albania became mysterious. The sunset was a riot of red and purple streaks against a deep blue background, the streaks being made possible by some residual thin high clouds. It was a clear night with the moon in its place surrounded by a scattering of stars. It was a cool evening, but windless and with a flat calm sea

Good afternoon from Roda. It was the final FGT for the 2019 season this morning and Dave and Linda were held up and couldn’t make it. Never mind we did both the telegraph crosswords and enjoyed lunch. This morning was quite overcast with plenty of blanket clouds, with enough blue patches to give us hope for a sunny day. Albania was a series of ridges across the calm sea, and there was enough wind to rustle the leaves of the nearby trees. WE have mixed forecasts with mine showing no rain, but Steve’s does.
Yesterday saw the clear skies gradually covered by clouds, thick enough to hide the sun from time to time. There was a lack of any wind and the sea stayed calm because of that. By late afternoon it was very cloudy with barely any hint of the sun. We could see the smoke from a wild fire on one of the Albanian mountains, which seemed to have died away by evening. There was a magnificent sunset with a mackerel sky giving zigzag lines of red and purple as the sun set. The moon glowed impressively behind its own mackerel sky giving a quilted look to the sky, whilst there was a bit of a lightning show over the mainland. Too far away to hear any thunder. There was no wind and the sea could barely be bothered to form a ripple as it hit the beach.

Good afternoon from Roda. We had a lovely clear sky this morning with peripheral thin high clouds. Albania is just about present across the channel due to the haze. There is a gentle breeze and a calm sea. However, we are due a two to three of days of high winds sometime during them. We’ll be setting off earlier than planned in case they stop the local ferries.
Yesterday, after a lovely start, we saw increasing clouds leading to a few drops of rain in the late morning. It continued to getting increasingly cloudy, with the sea developing bigger waves as the wind increased. Then the heavens opened in the early afternoon. The shower didn’t last very long but was quite severe and finished washing the camper for us! After its little spat the weather steadily improved with the skies slowly clearing, the dying down and the waves calming. There was yet another lovely sunset with the sky suffused with purply reds, all reflected again in the calm waters of the harbour. It was a chilly night I thought, with an almost full moon gracing the partly cloudy sky.

Good morning from Sfakera; Steve and Jan are on their way back to the UK so I will be covering for them. This morning we woke to a gentle breeze a heavy haze with Albania hardly visible and an almost cloudless sky. The sun when it rose was soon breaking through the haze and drying my early wash.
To cover back where Jan left off; Thursday as the day progressed so the winds picked up with a B4-5 from the west. Windsurfers were out near Roda Beach and whitetops were evident, particularly out in the Channel. There were waves onto the beach but more so in Almiros as Roda was more sheltered. This increase in water movement and the coming full moon brought the water higher up the beach and sunloungers had to be pulled back. The sun shone all day and there were just the odd passing cloud. The late evening saw a bright almost full moon and a starlit night. The maximum temperature was 29.2c and the minimum was 21.4c.
Yesterday we woke to a much clearer start; still with Albania clearer than for many a day; cloudless and the sun up early. We had a lovely sunny day with a very gentle wind and a much calmer sea; still small rollers onto the beach, still higher than usual due to the moon but no whitetops. In fact it was a near perfect day for sailing or being sat on a ferry so Steve and Jan had a great start to their trip. I made a trip to the airport mid afternoon and it was a great drive; nice clear views; 3 cruise liners in port and as usual mid afternoon the roads not too busy. After a nice yellow sunset we awaited the full moon to brighten the night along with the stars. The maximum temperature was 30.4c and the minimum was 20.0c.

Good morning from Sfakera. Today it is calm still and mild, the sea looks flat and the sun is beginning to rise into a cloudless but hazy sky; Albania is visible but behind a thick haze. The night was mild and still, the moon bright and the only noise was my dogs barking due to rats on my roof.....they get the walnuts from the tree and sit up there eating and storing them!!!! Bit of a problem mainly because it affects my sleep.
Yesterday was more of the same; a lovely sunny day with an afternoon breeze that at times was a light wind with gusts. Never enough to make one leave the beach which was fairly busy. There were also plenty of yachts passing offshore enjoying the winds and the very calm seas. The sea is probably now at its maximum temperature so is ideal for swimming but you must take care - there have been sadly many drownings again this year in Greek waters with one in Sidari and one in Acharavi within the last week. There are undercurrents and rip tides especially around a full moon so my advice is to not go out too far; it is harder to swim back in; and stay within touching distance of the seabed. ALso swim with friends or near others and not alone. The day ended with a lovely yellow sunset followed by the low horizon in a yellow, orange, light red colour. The moon again visible got brighter as nightfell and the wind died away as the stars began to shine. Bats were busy flying around giving the mozzies a hard time as during the day wasps are plentiful and they eat them too.
The maximum temperature was 29.9c; the minimum was 19.6c.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is a case or more of the same. A still hazy start with Albania barely visible but the sun is rising. No clouds just the haze to break through. Early mornings now revert to the sound of buses as the children are all back to school. There is also an increase in birdsong as the autumn migration begins; sadly this also means that locals are out shooting though mostly at weekends.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny morning as the sun burnt off the haze. Early afternoon brought with it some light wind making it a very pleasant day on the beach or by the pool. SOme were out walking but it is still a little hot to be going too far and you will need to carry plenty of water. A little work in the garden and I saw 7 different types of butterfly and 11 different birds plus the usual lizards. Plenty wasps around but no bother unless you have food outside; burning coffee granules works well to send them away. The wind dropped by 6pm and we had a lovely bright yellow sunset; again followed by a light red horizon. The moon though waning was still large in the night sky.
The maximum temperature was 30.2c and the minimum was 19.8c

Good evening from Italy, this is the first time I have been on line since leaving Roda. We left in a rush because high winds were forecast which could have affected the ferries to Igouminitsa. So I didn't get the repory done, so sorry. Thanks to Dave for picking up where I left off.
