Oscars ended up closed for a week, reasons not clear. They are open again as from last night.
Not so much a closure as a move. Kalamaki, the grillroom at the crossroads between Tropicana and Pegasus Hotel, is moving. The landlord wants the property back, rumoured to convert to a home! So Kalamaki are moving, not far, just across the roas between the hardware shop and minimarket. The building there, emoty for years, being hastily renovated and converted into the new grillroom. They will be closed for a few days at some point to move kitchen, furniture etc and reinstall. Just keep an eye when in the area.
The choppy seas have resulted in the removal of many sunloungers especially at Big Bens as that end beach is narrower. They may return some when weather picks up but there are still more than enough loungers available this time of year.
No sign of any other tourist places closing but some may decide to if the weather gives them a bad weekend. Mind you with nobidy on the beach yesterday the inside or sheltered bars were doing good trade and there were more people around the travel shops. The early bus to Corfu around 7.10 from Afrodite stop was full this morning as ìt passed through the village.

Big Ben is closed from last night.
The ice cream shop opposite Yummies is closed.
Yummies only open in evenings, from 5pm.
Getting quiet around the village but most bars, shops, tavernas holding on. There were new arrivals today as i saw several drop offs.

The beach is closing down, slowly the number of sunloungers is reducing to make the job easier when finally they all go. Harbour bar have removed all theirs and taken away the umbrella posts.
Sone of the bars are now switching to winter mode. Oscars tribute acts have all stopped now and their quiz night started again yesterday.
The tourist shops have Sale signs up with reductions up to 30% being shown.
Several appartments are already closed.
Most of the summer tavernas have already reduced the number of staff. The loungers that are left are for free as rarely used all day now and not enough to justify somebody working the beach. A consequence is the village taverna is busier of an evening.

Joannes bakery on the main road has now closed for the winter. Many apartments are also closed and there is a definite end of season feel about the place especially with the change to the weather. However there were new arrivals today. It seems its only Jet2 who have already finished their flights for this year.

with Roda being very quiet now, we have an opening today. Alexandros (smileys) has now re-opened for the winter. Upstairs is all set up for pool and darts as well as comfy sea view seats and a bar. Lovely and very snug when the woodburner is on.
