We were out earlier last night because of Dimitri's funeral and it was strange to see that many of those on the streets at 7pm were British, most of whom disappeared at 9:30 to be replaced by mostly other nationalities. It's good to see a better spread of business in the restaurants across the evening.

You would claim to know a lot Steve. Can you enlighten everyone as to who Guest, GUEST and Julie Mcpro are?

Don't worry about it Laurence ... I can do both, but I won't because it has no bearing on this thread. Please keep to the subject or start a new thread.

Don't you think that people have a right to know who is commenting on the current thread or is it a secret

Who cares who’s commenting? We’ve all got our own opinions although they may differ. And, the whole point of people choosing usernames, or Guests, or whatever, is that we don’t have to publicise our real names. Real names can lead to stalking, harassment, all sorts. Also, whoever owns the forum is surely bound by Data Protection etc, I certainly wouldn’t expect them to give out personal information. I’m pretty sure that’s an offence, and if it isn’t, it should be.

Agree totally Wendybe. But if people are making rude remarks or otherwise then surely they should be idensities. They should be exposed. Don't you agree?

It will be interesting to see the mix of Roda's clientele in September & October. Many of the Greeks & Italians who make the village so lively in August are starting to leave.

Actually, no I don’t agree Laurence. What I think is that everyone is entitled to an opinion. I don’t agree with slagging off others in public just because their opinion may differ from mine. I think people should read the posts, take on board, and call it as they see it. There’s many who are completely different behind a keyboard than they would be in person. Although some I suppose would be just as likeable or obnoxious in real life. My take is that we’re all adults, we all have our own take on situations. Me, I prefer to make my own mind up, and to be perfectly honest, I go on holiday to please myself. If it helps the local economy, then great. But I go to places because that’s where I want to go, and when I’m there, I’ll enjoy my holiday as I want to, not how I’m told to. If that means taking my own food or drink, then that’s my choice. For what it’s worth, we don’t take suitcases full of food. But I can understand why some people may do - lots of families can’t afford to eat out every night; they may be on a shoestring. Does that mean they shouldn’t take their kids abroad? I hold my hands up to having a drink on the balcony - with drink bought in Corfu, in shops in Roda. It’s our holiday, to enjoy as we want to, and if that includes a drink at our apartment either before/after a meal in the village, that’s our choice. A lot (most) people don’t have the luxury of spending 6 weeks at a time in Roda, or living there. So let them get on with their week, or fortnight however they chose, as long as they don’t cause trouble. The fact that they’ve made the effort to get there at all is surely a start.
In the meantime, everyone should put aside their petty differences and enjoy. It would be a very boring world if everyone was the same, wouldn’t it.
