Good morning from Sfakera where it is very wet and windy. After a night of rains and strong gusty winds it is still ongoing as days breaks late as it is so dark. I cannot see Karousades let alone the sea or Albania (and thats nit because my shutters are still closed! ). Surprisingly it is 9c at 8.30am. Watching the news on tv we got off lightly, parts of the mainland waking to snow and lots of it in places.
Yesterday just got worse as they day progressed and colder. The morning was one of constant drizzle and short showers with a light wind. It stopped for a while in the early afternoon but by 4pm it started to rain heavily and the wind started to pick up and it has never really stopped since!
The maximum temperature was 12.7c, but felt colder, the minimum was 9.7c

Good morning from Sfakera where it is cold but clear with no breeze and the sun is up. Albania can be seen and has plenty more snow on all peaks and down the slopes to approx 400 metres, this brings the cold air to us, just 5.5c at 8am. The sea looks calm.
Yesterday was a grey day, the morning storm cleared but it stayed cloudy and grey with the winds easing, there was light drizzle briefly. As the day progressed so the wind lessened and the sea became calmer, just smaller waves breaking onto the shore. Late afternoon a glimpse of the sun but for minutes only and it didn't shine everywhere. Threatening clouds were moving in and rains began just after 7pm and after 8pm it turned into a thunderstorm. This was heavy but cleared away before 9.45pm, the clouds continued to clear and the temperature was falling, 8.4c at 10pm already being colder than the previous night.
The maximum temperature was 12.3c, the minimum was 8.9c.
The storms of the previous days not only left flooded gardens and fields but damage to crops. There were tree falls in various parts of the Island, a torrent of water flooding an area in the south, the road up to Paleo monastery subsiding and now unfit for coaches to pass so jeeds urgent repair for the tourist season. There were also floods in Paxos.
We are now due a dryer but colder few days.

Good morning from a cold Sfakera, a cloudless start apart from Albania which is mostly hidden by grey cloud, a light wind bringing cold air from its snow capped mountains gives us a feeling of cold even though it is 6.7c at 7am. The sun will be here this morning at least so will feel lovely in car as i go to Town.
Yesterday the light winds always made it feel chilly, cloudy morning with odd sunny interval. My washing was out and dry by 2pm. We could here distant thunder over Albania and had couple spots and 3 minute shower around 3.30pm. It cleared and a sunny interval here as i watched dark clouds dropping rain over the sea as they passed towards the east. Thunder was closer and grumbling, still bit sun below clouds over Sfakera but my sea view disappeared as the rains hit Agros and Roda, half an hour later we got a heavy shower. After a lull there was a further heavy shower early evening, accompanied by winds and thunder. Lasting only 45 minutes or so it passed leaving the winds making it feel very chilly as the clouds slowly began to clear. After 10pm the stars began to appear and by midnight there were just a few clouds in a star and moonlit sky.
The maximum temperature was 12.3c, the minimum was 5.4c.
The tv news revealed heavy snow in northern greece and flooding further south. Landslides - one took a road down side of hill leaving the roadside house on the brink, cracks on tiled floors and walls, the poor residents evacuating. Elsewhere a house was partly wrecked by subsidence, left looking like after an explosion. A large landslide broke off large chunks of the rockface along thr Corinth canal, they now prevent shipping. It will be closed for at least 15 days so shipping will have longer trips around the Pelopenese and in rougher seas. Further north in Croatia, Kosovo the snow was between 3 and 6 feet deep in places and villagers were digging their way out of their houses! So this bad weather is Europe wide.

Good morning and Kala Mina from Sfakera where it is a very grey and cold start to the day. The sky is complete cloud cover of a light grey, the sea is grey, Albania hidden behind a wall of grey. A very light breeze but the air is cold, just 6.9c at 9.30am.
Yesterday clouds soon appeared but they were individual and passing and the sunny intervals were prolonged. There was a light wind bringing in very cold air, as the day progressed so the wind eased and the whitetops on the sea reduced in size and number. After nothing much of a sunset the clouds thickened and we had an evening shower, followed by a cold partially starlit late evening.
The maximum temperature was 9.8c and the minimum was 6.5c.

Looking at a large weather map of the whole of Europe, it seems that only Andalucia, Sicily and the Ionian are escaping the cold weather. Hope that continues, Dave.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is mild but very windy with strong gusts, Albanua a grey shadow where not cloud covered, a high thin cloud cover preventing any sun as yet but a pleasing 13.7c at 9am. The sea looking calmer as winds from SW.
Yesterday stayed grey and chilly all day with the cloud thickening and getting darker. A few spots of rain mid afternoon. As the night progressed so the wind began to pick up.
The maximum temperature was 12.7c the minimum 6.1c.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is again mild, high thin clouds over sea and white fluffy ones over the hills with the sun shining in between. 13.4c at 9am with a light breeze.
Yesterday morning the clouds thickened and darkened but ut stayed warm as the southerly wind was warm. After 1pm a prolonged shower came through Sfakera heading towards Kassioppi over the hills, in Roda the rain didnt arrive until 2.30pm and it was a very short shower. It cleared to some sun but there was always cloud around and the warm wind. As night came the moon shone brightly between the clouds and the wind eased.
The maximum temperature was 16.7c, the minimum was 8.7c.

Good morning from Sfakera. Yes Kaz it nice temperature even if cloudy and the wind is warm.
This morning Albania hidden under a mass of white fluffy clouds, some blue over seas and high thin greyer clouds to SW, the sun is out but its sunny intervals. A light breeze and 15c at 8.30am.
Yesterday the cloud won and the sunny intervals short, the was a light wind. Mid afternoon it gradually got darker but we didn't get a shower until after 6pm, short and sharp. It later cleared to passing clouds and in the late hours the moon began to shine through, with some stars also appearing.
The maximum temperature was 16.2c, the minimum was 13.1c.

Good morning from Sfakera, it is a mild, still but clear start. There is high cloud cover and a humidity that gives a haze so i cannot see Albania. The sea looks dark grey and is calm. There is a hint of the sun trying to break through. 13.1c at 9am.
Yesterday turned into a glorious sunny day with small white clouds passing. The was a wind, which eased as the day progressed. Sat watching football was very pleasant indeed. As sunset approached so clouds appeared to the west so it ws just average as the yellow sun disappeared. As night fell so the mon and stars appeared but slowly the cloud cover increased.
The maximum temperature was 19.5c, the minimum was 12.4c.

Good morning from Sfakera, very similar to yesterday morning except there is a light wind and no hint if the sun. It was 15.3 at 10am.
It seems this warm wind is coming up from Africa, carrying Sahara sands hence the haze and cloud. Cars here are covered in sand dust following yesterday's rains. Whilst it is murky here in Crete the air and clouds are yellow tinted and the roads in places are yellow with a complete dusting of sand!
Yesterday it clouded over completely and we had a few spots of rain followed by a brief light shower around 1pm. It didnt clear but a light wind picked up, the sky became greyer and at around 5.30 we had a heavy thunderstorm, quickly creating puddles on our sodden ground. After it passed it remained a cloudy night.
The maximum temperature was 18.3c, the minimum was 12.4c.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is a fresh start, the clouds clearing in places and looking like the sand has gone. Albania just a shadow, the sea calm and no breeze. The sun in rising over Agnos and Roda. It is 12.4c at 8am.
Yesterday stayed cloudy with the odd hint of sun. A light wind that always had spots of rain in it. The odd shower, light and short. Late afternoon early evening there was a longer shower that coated the cars in sand. As it passed so the cloud cover slowly started to thin and break up.
The maximum temperature was 16.4c, the minimum was 13.8c.

I was Kaz, but the weather is just very British some days!
Good morning from Sfakera where we had a thunderstorm in the early hours. This had cleared by dawn to give a fresh start, light winds with the odd gust, passing gray clouds and a sea of whitetops. Plenty gray clouds covering both our peaks and those of Albania. It was 13.5c at 10am.
Yesterday the passing clouds were constant throughout the day but the sun ensured we had prolonged sunny spells. The wind was always there but if you found a sunny, sheltered spot it was like a summers day in the UK. This stayed all day, past sunset with the wind gradually increasing. As nightfall came the cloud cover slowly increased and the stars disappeared.
The maximum temperature was 19.5c and the minimum 12.2c.
