There was an Indian Restaurant in roda when I first came in 1995 it was next door to Maggie's place. It was there for a few years but it didn't seem to do a lot of trade,it closed it reopened as Kaspers but it wasn't there that long

The Indian Restaurant will need to cast a wide net and become a destination restaurant. I'm not sure it will appeal to too many, other than the Brits. They may well travel from other parts of the island though ...

Steve As I travel the world via my job, I have now found and ate in Indian restaurants in Athens, France, USA, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Holland and China! So I don't think its only the Brits that Indian food would appeal too! As an example in a small town called Poissy, south of Paris, I found two and both served very good food! I'm certainly looking forward to trying it out and I am pleased the diversity of restaurants in Roda is expanding. Plus Thalasis (Panorama) already do an Indian platter on their menu and its very authentic.

Yesterday we went along to have a look and see how the work was progressing on what had been an empty shuttered building opposite Roda Stop at the crossroads. Well, as you can see, the area has been cleared and a fence erected with provision for lighting. The building has been renovated and is in the final stages of decorating, with a disabled access ramp to one side and plenty of parking in front of it. Has Dave has said previously it is the grill room ( Kalamaki) from opposite moving there. We will keep an eye on it as the winter progresses. Please note the up-cycling of old chairs in use as part of the barrier. Until they fall apart there is always a use for these old chairs.

And the grill is visible in the window at the front, so you can see what is cooking before you enter.

PIXIDA Italian Restaurant is on the move! As from the start of next season, it will be in new premises near to the Indian Restaurant, opposite the Mastoras Health Clinic. It's thought that the new restaurant will concentrate on pizza and freshly made pasta dishes, and there will be lots of new ideas.

The new grill room, Kalamaki, has been open for a week or so now, and very popular it seems to be. It really does look very smart and we will try to visit before we head off back to the UK.
The relocated Pixida premises are being seriously worked on at the moment. We know that Salvatore will be back soon from his travels, and it will be exciting to see what his new concept will be.

Changes still being made at Kalamaki; the name is now in the garden by the roadside. The glass grill is outside in garden; where it ends up who knows.
Work at the new Pixida is moving ahead now; they seem to be busy there most days.
Roda Stop; the mini market come newspaper/magazine shop at the crossroads has moved today; it is now just near ACS in what was formerly a coffee shop next to the flower shop. The shop next door to it used to be a Sports clothes retailer but has for a while now been a graphic signmakers. So more changes at the crossroads.

Yiannis of Big Ben is opening a tourist shop on the main road opposite Petrino Taverna and work is in full flow to get it ready for the start of the season.
The outside of the Aphrodite Hotel is currently being repainted.
Work is still proceeding at the new Pixida. There is some work being carried out at the Mexican.
Oscars are having glass doors put up at the pavement edge to the front. These will be sliding so they can be opened fully during the day and closed late at night to help keep the noise in and prevent the problem they had when closed towards the end of last season.
It seems that most places are to open around the 2nd of May although there are a good number who are to open a week previously for Easter. How many Tavernas will be open by then remains to be seen but the grill rooms, Drosia, the Indian will all be open for meals as they are now.
April 7th is a big day in Corfu as part of the Lets Do It Greece inititive towards cleaning the Island and recycling. The idea is to clean all the beaches; having cleaned the beach recently at Roda there will still be an event starting at 10am on that day...….full details of what it is to be will be announced shortly by the Recycling Team who are organising it.

Lots of work around the village now; none more so than at Melinda on the main road to Acharavi near the farm shop. They have completely cleaned, painted the front wall and are now adding brick facing to parts of it to give it the look of a new wall. They are also working on the pool, which has been completely drained; I guess in readiness to paint before filling. Work is also taking place in some of the apartments; adding aircon and decorating.
Work seems to have almost finished now at Theodoras on the apartments behind the kitchen area and on the bar area itself.
It was like its April; 4 weeks to Easter so lets get everything done before then so we can enjoy week of celebrations and family before the season begins in earnest.

The weather has changed for a few days so all outside works have stopped and it is just interior working that is proceeding.
Sunday at 10am is 'Lets do it Corfu' where the aim is to beach clean the Island. Groups are meeting at all main resorts and other areas to clean. There is an event in Roda, meeting on the front by Aphrodite at 10am. The beach was cleaned a month ago in a previous event so this time the beach should be quicker to clean and I understand they will now look to do the roads and pathways. For my part I will not go down to Roda but will clean the verges of the road that runs through Sfakera which are in need of a clean; also the areas around the bins where sadly people in cars just throw their rubbish and often miss the bins. The road up to Sfakera from the crossroads is also in need of a clean up but that is a bigger job and difficult unless you have a truck as there are no bins along that road now to deposit the sacks as you fill them. The aim to make the resort nice and clean ready for the season; hopefully it will then stay that way.
