Hi everyone. After 9 years away me and the hubby are returning to Roda in May next year staying at the Kosmas apts. I'll admit we weren't looking to return to Roda but saw an unbelievably cheap deal with Olympic, much too good not to take up. So my questions are obviously how much Roda has or has not changed. I kind of know a little bit because even after all these years i still check up on the forum every week. The main thing for us is eating out. Last time we were there our favourite restaurant was the Italian up by the crossroads, I think it was called Compass back then. We like something a bit more special/modern than say your traditional taverna (hope this doesn't offend anyone) Then there are the bars. There seems to be a few opened up right on the front now... Is there anywhere that does a nice cocktail? Karaoke and tribute bars definately don't do it for us (sorry again) Look forward to any feedback Andrea & Paul

You will find many things have changed over the nine years, and that's a good thing as Roda needs to adapt to the needs of an evolving clientele. There is now a splash of modern amongst the traditional.
The Italian restaurant has always been called Pixida, but they used to display the English translation (Compass) as well. Salvatore has been there for several years now, but I'm not sure I'd call his food modern - more traditional Italian. Roda's traditional tavernas are excellent, and I think most of them are very special. Almost everyone does cocktails and you will have no problem finding something to suit your taste. Amidst all the changes & improvements, you will find the same families and friendly people who greeted you when you last came here - some may even remember you!

I have stayed at the kosmas quite a few times, it takes me about ten minutes to walk to the crossroads, but it depends on your walking speed. The Kosmas is a family ran business and it is very friendly, and as an added bonus they to make good cocktails.

The Kosmas is a family ran business and it is very friendly, and as an added bonus they to make good cocktails. Opposite Kosmas is Spiros supermarket for you basic needs, next door to Yiotis the car accessory shop and car wash, near the Oasis hotel, is a new cake shop which sells amazing cakes I am told. Tassos's (?) supermarket towards the crossroads has been hugely increased in size with a very good range of stock, and he does sleeves of cigarettes on pre-order. Next to the paper shop there is now a grill room. There is also a new coffee shop on the crossroads, and a crepe cafe in the old Roundabout Bar building. Not forgetting the Compass Pixida, and the Tropicana bar cafe and children's play area which has recently added new soft play for younger ones. If you want something traditional there is O' Arabas (turn right towards town) where they do spit roast sheep. Jan
