I’m not sure how it will affect UK visitors, but this post appeared on Trip Advisor yesterday. The person who posted it works at the airport.
Please be aware that travelers from the UK will have to be patient upon their arrival in Corfu, since this new regulation will require more time, queues etc !
"As of 07/04/2017, the Hellenic Police started the implementation of new European Union Regulation 458/2017 according to which, passport controls and id data-base cross-validation checks are conducted to all European citizens travelling to / from Non-Schengen destinations.
These controls are conducted in addition to measures applied until today, at all border control points of European countries, to all passengers entering or exiting to/from Non-Schengen destinations.
Due to possible increased waiting times and in order to access departure gates on time, passengers travelling to Non-Schengen destinations are kindly requested to proceed to the Passport Control, which is conducted by the Hellenic Police, taking into consideration that the completion of relevant processes during peak times , could require at least 30 minutes. Respective announcements are already being made in the Terminal and through the airport’s social media.
For the acceleration of the process, the display of passports rather than police IDs is recommended."

This was the statement as announced on Greek Travel Pages:
Starting today (April 7), authorities will be carrying out identity checks on all inbound or outgoing travelers, including EU nationals, across EU borders, as part of a March 15 European Parliament decision to tighten security following terror strikes in Paris, Germany and Brussels.
The stricter checks across the EU’s passport-free Schengen Area will inevitably lead to longer waits at border crossings and airports. In cases of heavy traffic flows, authorities will be able to ease some border control checks while a transitional period has also been extended to airports.
The new regulations foresee that EU citizens traveling by air, sea or land – who unit recently went through special lines and were not checked – will now also be cross-checked with the Schengen Information System (SIS) and Interpol’s SLTD, along with non-EU nationals.
Meanwhile, future plans include the installation of automated fingerprint identification services at borders.

My understanding is that these new regulations have been suspended for 6 months as the computer systems are unable to cope especially in the high season. Maybe that is the area Fraport need to concentrate on first.

I think Fraport must have created the new website, Malc, and it is well-designed & helpful. Let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come.

Higher passenger taxes introduced today, now accounts for 16.74€ on a flight. This will push up prices, some airlines are promising not to surcharge those who have already purchased tickets.

Recent visitors report that all passengers are now having passports checked on arrival, though i suspect this may change as the number of daily flights increases.
On departure in addition to emptying pockets, and placing laptops and large camers in separate tray they are asking to look inside your hand luggage. It seems to be just a glance and done in a fun way. My son had book, Corfu Story, about Durrells stay which is amusing. He was asked what book was about. His wife was reading 'Dracular'. This resulted in laughter amongst the security staff.
Obviously checks will vary at busier times and may become random if queues build up.
If you have any experiences to share after your holiday please post them.
The baggage return is fairly quick so far but just last week one turntable broke down. Lets hope that was a blip as in the high season they will need both in full operation.
