Good morning from Roda. It was a very cold grey old start to the day as we made our early morning dash into Corfu Town. Though we were grateful that there wasn't much of a frost as it was a few degrees warmer than yesterday. We were not affected, but away from the coast we were seeing some light ground frost. There was mist in the valleys but nowhere near as heavy as yesterday. Now the sky is starting to clear from the north, so my washing may get dry today. There is barely any wind and the sea is calm and a pale blue with a dark streak where the deep water is. There seems to be more snow on the Albanian peaks, or it could just be the sun highlighting it. All together it is quite a pretty picture. Our hills are a bit hazy. aided and abetted by smoke from some bonfires. Today has the shortest daylight hours, so from now the days lengthen heading towards summer. That all seems a bit too far away as many people here are wrapping up their most delicate and precious plants against the frosts.
Yesterday was a cold but perfect winter's day. The sea was flat calm with just a few small waves coming ashore. There was no wind to speak of and it was quite pleasant in the sun. There weren't enough clouds to give interest to the sunset, and we progressed into a dark starlit night. The barely there moon was little more than a sliver of light on the edge of barely visible reddish disc. But it was very cold all day really, there was no escaping it.

Good morning from Roda. Kala Ximona, happy first day of winter for yesterday (strangely in Greece it is today!). And so the settled weather continues. It is not as sunny as they said, but we have no rain, a cloudy sky, with some clear blue patches, especially towards Albania. There must be sun there as I can see the snow gleaming bright white on the tops of the far peaks. No sun here yet though. There is almost no wind and the sea is slightly ruffled with an east west drift. It is still cold but frost free down here on the coast. There is only a slight decrease in the clarity as Albania and our hills are quite clear with only a slight haze.
Yesterday stayed more of less the same all day. Mostly overcast with little in the way of sun. There breeze sometimes stirred itself at bit, only to fade away again. Surprisingly I got my washing dry, as it didn't see much sun. The sunset was pretty and pastel shaded leading onto a dark but cloudy night. The clouds did keep the temperature up a bit, though the cold still persisted.

Good morning from Roda. Oh!, what a beautiful morning, as the song goes. We have a clear cloudless blue sky, great visibility and a calm blue sea with gentle rollers coming ashore tipped with white horses. The wind is non- existent and it was warm enough in the sun to enjoy breakfast on the balcony. It was warm enough to need just a jumper, even though it was only 10°C in the shade! We fling open the kitchen door as soon as the sun hits it and it will stay open until it starts to set in the afternoon. Front windows are now open as well to air the rooms after a few days shut up. The mattress topper and duvet are hanging off the balcony to air. The photos are of the sunset yesterday, the view towards Albania from the front balcony and a photo I took a couple of days ago through our open kitchen door with the sunshine.
Yesterday was not great but not bad either. the cloud persisted all day with the only patches of blue far out to sea towards Albania. The wind stayed calm, mostly, with only an increase for a while mid- afternoon. The sea changed and got choppy with lots of small waves coming onto Roda beach. The sky cleared enough at sunset to give another of Roda's magnificent sunsets. The sky was dark and strewn with stars, and a setting waxing gibbous moon didn't add much light. The lights of Albania and around the bay were shining away. It didn't feel as cold as the previous nights had and it was still a fairly healthy 9°C at midnight.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 23rd December 2017 was 7.2°C, real feel 7°C, and the humidity 51% giving a dew point of -3°C

Good morning from Roda. It is another lovely day. It is more or less the same as yesterday, we have a clear blue sky, no clouds, amazing visibility towards Albania, whilst our hills are slightly hazy. The breeze is a bit fresher and the sea is still as rough as last night, but looks so pretty with the deep blue colour and the white topped rollers coming ashore. It is much warmer than yesterday, so again we had breakfast on the balcony. We pleasant even with the slightly stronger breeze coming round the corner, so we just needed our jumpers. We have already reached yesterday's maximum temperature of 13°C.
Yesterday stayed bright and sunny all day, with a freshening breeze, OK it became a stiff wind by the evening. The sunset was only so- so due to the complete absence of clouds. The evening sky was full of stars and a bright crescent moon. Visibility stayed good with all the lights around our part of the channel shining brightly. I have included a couple of photos I took in Roda yesterday.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 24th December 2017 was 11.7°C, real feel 12°C, and the humidity 51% giving a dew point of 2°C

Good morning from Roda. This is going to be a double report as I didn't post a report yesterday. Let us start with Christmas Day. It was perfect. From first thing in the morning until the sun went down we had a clear blue cloudless sky. I am carefully ignoring the few tiny things that gathered on the horizon near sunset. The sea was very calm and a beautiful pale shade of blue with the waves just having enough strength to form near the shore. The wind was basically away having its own Christmas as it was noticeable by its absence. We not only enjoyed our Christmas breakfast on the balcony, but our Christmas lunch as well. We were both thinking that it was the first time on our life that we had been able to enjoy that. The temperatures on the south facing balcony were at times too warm, belying the cool temperatures on the other one. The sunset was mediocre because of the lack of clouds, but we did enjoy the vista of the bare branches against the bright orange band on the horizon caused by the setting sun. The evening remained calm with a sky full of stars and an almost half moon. It was a peaceful walk on our way back from the village after a walk to digest our lunch.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 25th December 2017 was 8.0°C, real feel 8°C, and the humidity 65% giving a dew point of 1°C The maximum temperature this day in 2016 was 11.7°C
Sunday's maximum temperature was 14.1°C (real feel 14°C), and the minimum was 7.5°C , the dew point 5°C. The maximum humidity was 56% and the minimum 46%.
Boxing Day started off quite cloudy and with a very heavy dew. There are a lot more clouds around, with Albania lost in a bank of them. The sky over us is dotted with many pretty white clouds that do every now and again get in the way of the sun. There is a general haze around as well. The breeze is a lot stronger and is expected to get even stronger later on. The sea is still calm though, and will probably remain so as the expected wind is coming from the south. We still managed to get our breakfast out on the balcony, it was very pleasant when the sun came out. Hopefully the expected rain will delay long enough for us to enjoy lunch outside as well.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 26th December 2017 was 9.3°C, real feel 9°C, and the humidity 73% giving a dew point of 4°C The maximum temperature this day in 2016 was 14.9°C
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 13.8°C (real feel 14°C), and the minimum was 5.9°C , the dew point 8°C. The maximum humidity was 68% and the minimum 57%.
The reported UV for today is 2 ( Range 1- 11+).

Good afternoon from Roda. Being a bit lazy today in getting the report out, sorry. This morning was a very grey mostly overcast one with a few blue patches just to provide hope. The sea was flat calm, with an absent Albania on the horizon, only visible by the amount of cloud hiding her. Our hills were playing hide and seek with the cloud base. The morning was one of showers with some sunny spells, ending in a torrential downpour in the early afternoon. The wind started off quite gentle but is starting to build up. We are expecting some high winds tonight. It feel cool even cold due to the wet and the lack of sun, but the temperatures are close to yesterday's!
Yesterday was a day of sunshine and cloudy spells, in fact more cloudy spells than sunny ones. The wind did start to get up but the sea remained very calm with barely the will to form wavelets. There were great heaps of clouds on the horizon, lurking over Albania and being held back by the mountains behind us. Despite the clouds it was a very iffy sunset, leading into mild calm evening. There was an almost half moon shining in one of the clear patches, and the there enough gaps to see the stars. The mild evening seemed to encourage a lone cicada to chirp away near Makris apartments. It was still 13°C at midnight.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 27th December 2017 was 12.4°C, real feel 12°C, and the humidity 76% giving a dew point of 7°C The maximum temperature this day in 2016 was 14.9°C
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 14.3°C (real feel 14°C), and the minimum was 6.6°C , the dew point 9°C. The maximum humidity was 76% and the minimum 67%.

Good morning from Roda. We awoke to a grey murky day after a bashing during the night. We had very strong southerlies driving heavy rain onto the back of the flat. It did seem to last for most of the night, however it had stopped when we got up. Albania had been lost in the murk and clouds across a very calm sea, but as the day advances it is getting brighter and calmer. Even the occasional blue bit has been spotted towards the west, and the sun is trying to break through as I write this. The clouds however remain menacing just above the mountain tops. The ditches are full of running water and the garden is saturated with water pooling in the lowest areas. You can hear the ground sing as the water drains away.
Yesterday was mostly a day of showers and drizzle, though there was a tremendous downpour in the middle of the afternoon. It was strange in that is was pouring down but the flag at Pirates was bathed in bright sunshine. The clouds that had lurked all day did magically disappear from at least half of the sky, then not long later they were back!. The murk drifted up and down the valleys of the hills behind us. It wouldn't have been a nice day at all in the villages like Strinilas. The sunset was a no show, but the evening wasn't too bad, the half moon could be seen shining away in a gap between the clouds as could a few stars. But, even as we were admiring the moon we had another spell of drizzle, from where we couldn't see. The wind started to increase in the late evening as did the rain, but it was still a quite mild 13°C at midnight.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Thursday 28th December 2017 was 12.3°C, real feel 12°C, and the humidity 79% giving a dew point of 9°C The maximum temperature this day in 2016 was 14.2°C

Good morning from Roda. We got woken by a short thunder storm in the small hours, not enough to make us leap out of bed to unplug the computers though! Soon after we did wake up there was a very heavy downpour, but it was short lived and although at times it has looked ominous it has stayed dry. In fact the morning so far has been one of sunny spells with dull interludes. We just about managed our breakfast on the balcony as everything was drying up quite fast. The upper level clouds are scudding across the skies, and the lower ones are playing tag with the peaks. however the wind near the ground is just a gentle breeze. Though it might be stronger in more exposed places. The sea is calm and a beautiful silvery shade with Albania usually quite clear across the channel. There is a fresh sprinkling of snow on the upper slopes.
Yesterday morning stayed very overcast but dry where we were, however in the early afternoon the heavens opened and we had a very heavy but short lived shower. Once the sky had dumped its load it did start to clear to the north and west of us. Enough clouds were left to give us a very pretty sunset. The night sky was very cloudy and we had a strange moon. We could see it shining away behind some clouds with a very wide ring around it. I looked up the phenomenon and it was caused by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. It was certainly something to look at! The sea was very calm with those very long rollers appearing just before the shore line, and they were diminishing in size as the evening wore on. It was a very misty evening due to the amount of moisture in the atmosphere, everything was dripping wet with condensation. However it was very mild with the temperature at midnight 12°C.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 29th December 2017 was 10.3°C, real feel 10°C, and the humidity 74% giving a dew point of 6°C The maximum temperature this day in 2016 was 9.9°C
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 14.5°C (real feel 15°C), and the minimum was 11.7°C , the dew point 10°C. The maximum humidity was 80% and the minimum 69%.

Good afternoon from Roda. Sorry about the delayed report, got caught up with pre New Year's stuff. The supermarket was heaving, all three checkouts open and three people at each. It took us all of 5 minutes to get through, with a spend of just over £20 because we have guests coming! OK it took me about 10 minutes in the queue at the butcher's counter, lots of expats stocking up. I just wanted some beef for my steak pie! Anyhow back to the weather. It was a lovely clear morning today with the fresh snow on the Albanian peaks shining away. The sky was blue with just a few white fluffy things messing around. The sea was deep blue with white crested waves coming ashore. The photos don't do it justice. There was a breeze that did get stronger as the morning progressed. The clouds got more numerous as well.
Yesterday continued to be a day of sunshine and showers, some of them very heavy indeed with spells of drizzle between them. We could watch the rain storms chasing each other down the channel. One time we could see heavy cloud over the mainland to the west, in front of us it was bathed in bright sunshine and to the east there was quite a heavy shower. There was a most amazing part rainbow over Almyros in the early afternoon. Again the photo doesn't do it justice, but towards the shore you can see the slanting rain under the rainbow and to the west it was dry. It stayed mostly dry for the rest of the day, with only a few spits and spots as the atmosphere released some of its moisture. The visibility was quite good and you could even see the moon and one or two stars as we walked back from the village. The sunset had been quite good, with much of the colour over the channel.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 30th December 2017 was 11.1°C, real feel 11°C, and the humidity 68% giving a dew point of 5°C The maximum temperature this day in 2016 was 8.3°C

Good morning from Roda. It is a beautiful, if chilly, start to the day here. The snow capped peaks of Albania look like they are within touching distance across the deep blue waters of the channel. The sea is calm, though I can hear waves crashing on the shore. There is practically no wind so we enjoyed the sun eating our breakfast on the balcony. It may say 9°C on the thermometer, but it was certainly warm enough in the sun in my dressing gown. There is some very thin high cloud scattered around the sky but it isn't interfering with the sun's rays. As we sat we could hear one of the local bands playing around the village. What a lovely day to end the year on.
Yesterday. after a very good start, did go down hill a little at times. The clouds increased to give longer periods of no sun, and certainly the sea did get a lot more choppier, with white horses out in the channel by the afternoon. The clouds did start to clear away completely in the afternoon so there must have been a nice sunset, but I missed it. By nightfall the clouds had gone completely and were had a lovely moon shining in a star strewn heaven. There was so much light that the snow capped peaks of the Albanian mountains could easily be seen to the north. It was a mild night with not much wind with a temperature of 11pm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 31st December 2017 was 7.2°C, real feel 7°C, and the humidity 63% giving a dew point of 0°C The maximum temperature this day in 2016 was 8.8°C

Good morning from Roda. We, at Roda Online Forum, wish everyone a happy and healthy 2018. There was a beautiful start to the new year of 2018, with sunshine pouring into the kitchen. There were clouds gathering over the mountains of Albania. The sea was flat calm with the sound of the small waves coming ashore. It was cold during the night, but once the sun was up it did start to feel much warmer. As the morning advanced more clouds gathered but there were still some sunny spells, these however, are getting much fewer and have all but disappeared.
Yesterday stayed sunny all day. The wind stayed away, so though it was cool there was no wind chill factor. The sea was flat calm, just gathering enough strength to form a ripple when hitting the shore. The air clarity was amazing with Albania as clear as crystal. he buildings on the upper edge of Saranda could easily be seen, also the extent of the villages, that seem to be developing no end. There wasn't much of a sunset, but the dying rays of the sun turned the mountains of Albania pink. The photos, again, don't do it justice. The night was so bright with the moon almost full, in a sky covered in stars. It was so bright the snows again could be seen on the Albanian peaks. Even the harbour wall could be seen despite the complete lack of streetlights there.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 1st January 2018 was 8.0°C, real feel 8°C, and the humidity 69% giving a dew point of 2°C The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 10.4°C

Just seen the news on Corfu Tv, last nights thunderstorm brought snow to Pantocrator and Strinillas which is without electricity and has snow ploughs clearing the roads. More storms due today through til Friday we are told.
Now on Corfu Press it says there was a 3.5 magnitude earthquake at 15.56 on 1st January, in adriatic to north of Corfu. At that time a picture fell off wall in my house and i joked it was probably an earthquake, i didnt really think it was as i felt no other movement and i was sat on sofa underneath the picture that fell!

This one I felt, Steve slept through it. Apparently it was just off Erikousa, approximately 5km west of the island and 12Km north of Sidari. A very unusual place for an earthquake as they are usually closer to Albania.

Good morning from Roda. A double report this morning. Yesterday started off well with plenty of sunshine, but the clouds were closing in quickly. We only just managed to get our breakfast on the balcony. By early afternoon it was raining and it did so for the rest of the day. There were even reports of hail at Sidari. The wind gradually increased during the day to get very strong by evening. However during the night the sky cleared and there was a bright full moon shining. All in all it was a very mild day.

Monday's maximum temperature was 13.4°C (real feel 13°C), and the minimum was 4.8°C , the dew point 9°C. The maximum humidity was 75% and the minimum 60%.
Today has been glorious from the start. The clarity was amazing with the peaks of the Albanian mountains gleaming with their fresh coat of snow, clear with the ridges and valleys pinpoint sharp. the deep blue sea is ruffled with very noisy waves hitting the shore line. We could hear them before we drew the curtains. Also, when we were at the back of the flat, overlooking the hills, enjoying our breakfast, the sound of the waves ware being reflected back at us. It is lovely and warm in the sun as the breeze on the back is gentle. To be honest it isn't that much stronger on the front. We have pretty white cotton wool balls of clouds floating serenely in the blue sky, with Albanian peaks having a small cap of larger ones hovering above the snows.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 3rd January 2018 was 12.4°C, real feel 12°C, and the humidity 70% giving a dew point of 7°C The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 11.6°C

Good morning from Roda. We had a bit of a wild night, with lots of rain, strong winds and a dawn thunderstorm. The garden was flooded, with those plants on the edges doing the doggy paddle to keep afloat. However most of the garden has been built up so was above the water line. First light brought heavy rain laden clouds and an Albania and our hills lost in dense rain clouds. The sea sounded very noisy over the wails of the wind. However as the morning progressed the rain and thunder storms started petering out and the sun broke through. Albania reappeared from the murk bathed in bright sunshine, highlighting the steep valleys and ridges. The sea had got even wilder with very heavy waves beating the shore line and even bigger white topped ones out in the deep channel. The wind is gusting quite strong at times, then dying away to almost nothing.
Yesterday started off lovely with plenty of sunshine with some pretty white clouds decorating the blue sky. The wind increased to give a very choppy sea, and the clouds also started to cover the sky. There were enough breaks in the clouds to give a very pretty sunset. The wind died down and the sea settled into those lovely very long rollers washing ashore. By mid-evening the sky was completely covered with clouds, some of them thin enough to allow a very hazy moon to be seen. The photo is of one of the street dogs in Acharavi taking advantage of the warm sunshine to catch up on his tan.
