Good morning from Roda. It is beautiful but chilly this morning. The storm from yesterday has passed, leaving some rough seas, but they are quieter than yesterday. There is a beautiful blue sky with one or two decorative white clouds floating around. That sea may have waves, but it is a lovely shade of blue and topped with startling white crests. The wind had got up again during the night, but had calmed a bit by morning. The humidity has dropped giving us a really good view off Albania with its peaks topped with a fresh fall of snow. The weather people tells us that today is all we get before we have another session of wind and rain.
Yesterday was stormy all day. The wind, especially during the day was very strong, though it did ease a bit during the evening. There were several windsurfers enjoying the wind and the waves along the beach towards Acharavi. The temperature should have felt mild but that wind said otherwise. There was a very heavy, but short lived, shower in the afternoon, which was the only rain we saw all day, though I am sure that other parts of the island got more as the clouds were very dark and heavy looking. The storm had pushed the sea way up the beach and gave some dramatic looking photographs. There were one of two small breaks in the storm clouds by sunset which gave little hints of pink to relieve the grey monotone.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 28th November 2017 was 11.9°C, real feel 10°C, and the humidity 57% giving a dew point of 3°C The maximum temperature this day in 2016 was 15.7°C
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 14.8°C (real feel 12°C), and the minimum was 11.6°C , the dew point 12°C. The maximum humidity was 81% and the minimum 68%.

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely but cold morning here. We have quite a lot of cloud but there are good sized breaks and the sun is shining, mostly. When the sun is out it is very pleasant, but once it hides behind a cloud then it is cold. There isn't much of a breeze but the sea still has a few white horses dancing on it. It is a lovely opalescent shade of turquoise, shading to inky blue close to Albania. Albania, though still visible for its usual length is dark and lacking in detail, as are the hills behind us. This is the calm before the wind and the rain start later on today and are due to last for almost the next five days.
Yesterday was pleasant all day. The sun continued to shine and the wind stayed calm. The clouds increased during the afternoon, but not enough to spoil the sunshine. However they failed to give much of a sunset, it was OK but nothing to write home about. The evening brought a sky with scattered clouds, stars and a half moon, and the wind continued to die away during the night. I took photos of Roda beach to show what a difference a day makes. The stranded barge can just about be made out in front of the Coral, in the middle of the right hand edge.s

Good morning from Roda. It is wild wet and windy morning here. We have a ceiling of dark rain clouds that are more than happy to dump their contents on us. Though to be fair the roads were damp when we got up, but it was dry but windy. In fact we got to and from town before the real rain started. It just seems worse because of the very strong winds we have. The sea is much calmer than you would expect, because the winds are mostly coming from the south. It is a lovely turquoise shade with some long waves forming just before hitting the beach. Albania can just about be made out through the murk and our hills are being threatened with the mist and murk that does make its way down the valleys. The sombas (wood burning stoves) will be blazing away in many a house. We are not due any let up for a few days. Getting lots of little power cuts at the moment, hopefully not weather connected.
Yesterday, after a very nice start, got increasingly cloudy as the day wore on. We got an odd spot of rain in the afternoon. The day got increasingly windy during the evening, though there were some quieter spells. The temperature also started to rise, gaining about 4°C during the evening. The sea remained very calm, due to the southerly direction of the wind. The barge is still well and truly stuck and they will probably leave it there until this spell of bad weather is over.
The temperature at 11.00 am on Thursday 30th November 2017 was 16.7°C, real feel 17°C, and the humidity 82% giving a dew point of 14°C

Looking at the forecast on tv this morning we are in for a bad weekend. It rain all night, sometimes heavy with thunder and lightening. Due same today but winds increase to B8-9, luckily from south. Saturday big storms just to east of us over Albania, northern Greece with snow over 900m, we will get rains. Bit respite possible Sunday then more bad weather Monday and Tuesday.
This is totally opposite to the lovely weather we had last year in November and December, you may recall few days with rain early December 2016, then sunny everyday until Christmas Day when cloudy.
The trees will sure catch up on their water loss this year now.

Good morning from Roda. We awoke to a grey but quite bright day. There is 100%cloud cover, Albania is just a suggestion on the horizon and our hills have almost disappeared in the murk. Not a nice time to be in the mountain villages. There is an almost constant gentle drizzle in a slight wind. The water ditches beside the house are threatening to overflow and there are large portions of the lawns underwater. Our veg patch isn't too bad as we have been building the level up. However this is not the end of the rain as it is supposed to stay wet at least until sometime on Tuesday. At least it is quite mild and we don't have the snow that seems to have covered a lot of the UK! The sea is a lovely turquoise colour again and looks quite calm, but, yesterday, the open ferries to and from Corfu and Igoumenitsa were cancelled due to the bad weather. The sea must have been a so different in that stretch of water.
Yesterday was one stormy day. The winds howled all day, the rain came down in buckets full, barely leaving any gaps if any. For most of the day Albania and our mountains were lost in the rain. At times the cloud base lifted a bit and the valleys could be seen enveloped in heavy mist/ cloud. The rain rattled against our south facing windows and door, so much so that we didn't go over the door step once we were in from town. The temperature belied the feel of the day. We felt cold for most of the day, which we spent watching DVD's in front of the fire. In fact the temperature started rising during the evening after having remained steady all day and reached 17 °C at 10.30pm
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 1st December 2017 was 16.5°C, real feel 16°C, and the humidity 85% giving a dew point of 15°C

Good morning from Roda. I should have said Kalo Mena yesterday, the last time for this year. We hope that you all have lovely December wherever you are. Today we have clear pale blue skies to the north of us, with only a fringe over the tops of the Albanian mountains. The visibility is wonderful in all diections despite the high humidity level. The sea is calm looking and pale blue/green with long waves breaking close to shore. To the south we have more clouds, so the sun gets hidden from time to time. However we managed breakfast on the balcony in the sun for the first time in a few days. However as we watch the clouds there are increasing and we are due rain this afternoon. Yesterday was a generally very wet day, with the rain increasing from a steady drizzle to a torrential downpour. The worst of the down pours being around mid-day when we were confined to Ilo Ilo in Acharavi to wait it out. Eventually it eased off enough for us to make a dash home. The roads were awash in many places and the ditches and streams were full. The stream beside the Theodoros resort was fast running and quite high, and, where it came out onto the beach, by the harbour, was very wide. It was full of all sorts of debris. The Dutch bungalow complex between Nino's and the Ammos grill was in the middle of a lake! The rain did finally begin to stop by early evening after a final blow with strong winds and heavy rain. We donned wellies to walk into the village which were needed as the car park by Makis was also a lake. The evening itself felt mild as we walked back, the clouds were thinning enough to give the odd glimpse of the moon. However there was lots of lightning and distant thunder. The temperatures are all over the place at the moment where it can start of warm and then end up very cold and even get warm again, and all possible combinations thereof. I take my readings last thing at night, and note any odd readings during the day.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 2nd December 2017 was 14.1°C, real feel 14°C, and the humidity 84% giving a dew point of 12°C

Good morning from Roda. Sitting in bed this morning with our cup of tea we were listening to a very heavy shower of rain. A bit surprising as we had seen blue patches of sky and a hint of sun. However now the rain has gone and it is sunny. There are quite a lot of clouds around, some quite threatening, but the forecast is for it to remain dry until the evening, fingers crossed. Visibility is quite good with Albania and its cap of clouds reasonably clear across the channel, and our hills are a bit dark under some equally dark clouds.
Yesterday we had a very wet morning, with the roads turning into rivers at one point. It did dry up in the afternoon, but we still had a very overcast sky. The winds stay gentle all day. and the sea was calm with just waves breaking as they reached the shore. Towards late afternoon the clouds did break to give us a quite pretty sunset. There was a little light rain in the evening, but the clouds broke to give us a full moon and some stars. It felt very mild as there was still no real wind.

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely start to the day. However we woke up to the sound of distant thunder perhaps coming from the mainland. When we did poke our heads out of the window we have a lovely clear day with the fresh snow on the peaks of the Albanian mountains gleaming. There must have been some rain during the night as the outside steps and part of the balcony were very wet. The air is clear and fresh though we still have high humidity. The sea is a blue/grey in colour but is only slightly ruffled. Our hills have lost the heavy clouds threatening the valleys. We have a mostly blue sky, but there are still a significant amount of clouds. The forecast though is for a dry day.
Yesterday started off badly with the very heavy rain, but then the sky cleared, but still leaving plenty of clouds around. The air clarity was quite good as we could still see Albania. The sea was calm as was the wind. Although the sea looked calm it was sending quite heavy waves that formed close in onto the shore that kicked up the sea grass. By mid-afternoon we had dark skies, especially over our hills. We could see the rain sweeping down the valleys and hillsides. There was also many flashes of distant lightning. We only got a few spits and spots of that rain burst. ten minutes later the skies had cleared over the mountains leaving big swathes of blue sky! There was a little bit of drizzle early evening, but then the skies cleared again to show us the larger than usual moon outshining the stars and the lights of Albania and our bay. It was , in general, quite a mild day.

Good morning from Roda. what a wonderful morning. We have an almost clear blue sky with just a few pretty white clouds dotted around. The air is so clear that Albania is startling in the clarity and detail we can see. There are quite a few snow topped peaks visible adding to the dramatic effect. The effect is heightened by the deep blue/green shade of the sea, topped as it is for as far as the eye can see with white horses. So privileged to wake up to such beauty. There is a stiff breeze which is helping by keeping any haze away. Our hills are just as clear and dramatic but, whilst we were basking in the sun for our breakfast on the balcony, Karousades was in shade from a single cloud above us. We even saw butterflies dancing across the back lawn enjoying the warmth of the sun. Mind you we were sat well out of the breeze basking in the sun, but shivering on the front balcony taking these photos.
Yesterday, after the early thunder turned out to be quite pleasant. We had sunshine and cloudy spells but in a gathering breeze that made it feel cooler. The humidity started to drop giving us better air clarity, so during the evening, with the super moon illuminating everything almost like daylight. You didn't need a torch. The clouds were still visible, back lit by that so bright moon, as was Albania. The brightness meant that the lights of Albania were dimmed as were the lights around the bay. Even the stars were dimmed. The reflection of that moon across the waters of the bay, with its gathering waves was such a picture from The Boathouse terrace. The sea was bathed in rippling sheets of silver as far as the tip of point at Almyros.

Good morning from Roda. Again we have an amazing morning, clear blue skies with only one or two small clouds floating around. There was an extremely windy night which, thankfully, died away to give a very calm morning. The sea is a deep blue, but we still have waves coming ashore, but a lot less than yesterday. The very low humidity means that the air is crystal clear. The snow toped peaks of Albania seem to be just a short swim away. We enjoyed breakfast on the nice and warm south balcony, whilst it was a chilly 10°C on the front. I think it is part of the charm of living here. You can have two extreme seasons in one day. Summertime for breakfast, wintertime for dinner, with some rainy days to add to the mix.
Yesterday was a lovely day, warm in the sun, cool in the shade. The sea got increasingly rough with the scale and height of the waves gradually increasing during the day. The wind started building by mid- afternoon to get very strong by early evening. The wind was threatening to blow our woolly hats off on the walk into the village. If anything it was worse coming back. The sea was quite wild, but the golden moon was being reflected along the whole bay. The sky was full of stars and the lights of the Corfiot villages and those of Albania twinkled like never before. You feel as though you have the whole scene to yourself as we rarely see another walker . Several days can go by without a car passing by on our walk back. At times it is magical.

Good morning from Roda. And so the fine settled weather continues. We have a clear cloudless blue sky with absolutely no clouds, the sea is a deep blue is calm looking but we can hear some waves coming ashore, but there is a little breeze to spoil it a bit. Again it was warm enough to enjoy breakfast on the balcony watch our latest raptor (we think it might be a honey buzzard) hunting in the long grass around us. He is being a bit camera shy at the moment, but we will persevere, or rather Steve will.
Yesterday was beautiful all day. The sky was only host to one or two miniscule clouds at any one time. We walked along to Acharavi to enjoy the beautiful weather and the stunning scenery. The sea was an incredible shade of blue, and the waves were increasing during the afternoon. We sat in Fuego on the edge of the sea and just chilled. The walk back was equally lovely, there was a hint of spume from the waves misting the beach and the road. There was not enough cloud to add any real interest to the sunset. The sky just turned a blanket shade of orange and then it went dark. Again, once the sun goes down, it gets very chilly very quickly, so it is always a brisk walk into the village. The walk back was moonless, which allowed the star to be the main feature, the lights around the bay twinkled nicely. It was also so clear that many more lights could be seen from the villages of Albania. It shows that there is a lot more there than you can see in the day time.

Good morning from Roda. The good weather continues here, but there are signs that the end is coming. Steve reported that we had a ground frost today, the first real one of the winter, which very quickly disappeared once the sun hit it. Our minimum temperature was 5°C, but at ground level it was probably at 0°C, hence the frost, as the air was so still. It was all gone by the time that I emerged. We still have a lovely blue sky but there are clouds gathering around the high peaks and rain is forecast for tomorrow. Although it was a chilly start to the day, by the time we were ready for breakfast it was more than warm enough to eat it basking in the sun on the south balcony, even though the temperature on the other balcony was reading 10°C. The sea looks calm and a lovely shade of blue but, even though it has calmed down somewhat, we can still hear some waves breaking on the shore. The wind is almost absent, and the haze is starting to reappear.
Yesterday stayed beautiful all day. It was warm enough to walk about with just a light cardigan or jacket during the day. Again I needed my thick anorak for the evening. The calmer seas have meant that the dredger is back with its attendant tug and has started work again in clearing the entrance to the harbour. The winds stayed light, but the waves increased in size and frequency, and again you could see spume drifting over the beach road. There was a monochromatic sunset of a band of orange on the horizon. I must admit that I love to see the dark silhouettes of the palm trees against this back drop. There was no moon again to out shine the stars, of which they were numerous. The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday8th December 2017 was 7.9°C, real feel 8°C, and the humidity 68% giving a dew point of 2°C

Good morning from Roda. It is not such a nice day, we have gathering clouds, diminishing sunshine and increasing wind. Albania with some patches of sun on its flanks is quite clear over the channel. The sea is a steel grey colour and quite ruffled. We are due strong winds and rain this afternoon. It feels cooler due to the absence of the sun. No breakfast on the balcony this morning, and Steve has already battened down the hatches in preparation for this afternoon's winds. We are due a mixed bag of a week with rain and wind and some sun.
Yesterday was a beautiful day once we had got the frost out of the way. The previous day's waves died away so that the sea barely had the energy to produce a ripple let alone something as energetic as a wave. The wind also couldn't be bothered either, so even the leaves of the eucalyptus trees were silent and motionless. They tend to move in the merest of breezes. There was an almost haze with Albania not quite so clear across the incredible blue sea. The clouds however were starting to gather and we had a pretty decent sunset, leading into a still clear sky with multitudes of stars. The lights of the villages twinkled opposites and those of the bay towards Almyros passed Acharvi were reflected as long streaks of colours on the dead calm water. A couple of photos taken recently.
