I had a walk around Roda this morning, very pleasant in the sun just puddles from yesterday evenings rain to avoid. The new Coffee Corner is now almost ready to open, canopies down, plant tubs in place and planted, tables stools and chairs being set up outside and in, a cake cabinet in place. No sign of cakes so looks like set up and check it good before they open.
Opposite Roundabout Bar the end shop unit, just had prints and old postcards in last year, has been emptied of its contents and shelving units and is up for sale.
A lorry was outside Alpha Bank ATM and beds, mattresses were dropped from apartments above suggesting decoration and refurbishment to take place.
At the Mexican the decking in the outside area is in the process of being taken up again suggesting some alterations to be made.
In the outer part of Petrino's a man was drilling up the floor by the back wall. Cannot guess at what this will lead to at present.
Meanwhile the works continue on the changes to 5 Roses now Crusoe's are moving there. All the outside area has been taken down and new cedar posts are being cut to size, sanded and erected in supports already drilled on to the pathed floor. Time will tell how the new outside area will end up.
So now we are in February the resort is beginning to wake up and prepare itself for the approaching season. No doubt other works will start in the forthcoming weeks.
The beach has less seaweed than a few weeks back but the sea is full of it, gentle ripples onto the beach today with a flat sea. The river at the end is clear and you can see the bed, hundreds of fish ( 4 to 6 inches long) darting about but no sign of terrapins or frogs. Just one stray dog about, a recent arrival, young golden and big that hangs about near Alexandros.
Open early for coffees were Oscars, Pirates, Drosia for breakfasts, Tropicana and Piedra. Alexandros and Nemos will open around 12.30. The mini markets were all open as were the photo shop, hairdressers and all the shops at the crossroads.
