POSTAL DELIVERY CORFU STYLE The postal service on Corfu has a bad reputation. Not so sure it is entirely deserved as there are so few addresses here, the possibilities for mis- delivery are infinite. You only hear about those and not the good stories. Our phone bill used to be sent to Pirates but, because OTE omitted the all important 'Pirates' our bills ended up going to Brookside (The Cypriot development). It was only because some kind sole rang the number on the bill and contacted us. We are now doing our bills on line, and it is working well. Parcel deliveries can also be fraught, but the advice is quite sensibly, to put your mobile number under your name so that you can be contacted for delivery. Here your mobile phone is your address, it works very well. Steve, much to his disgust, had to buy a dumb phone so that OTE could contact him to fit a land line for the phone and internet. The photos are of our local postal lady on her regular delivery to the village. Note the lack of uniform or official vehicle. She doesn't need addresses for locals as she knows where they all live. Though in places like Sfakera the post and parcels get delivered to the Kafeneon.

No Dave, but she’ll lick your stamp if you ask her nicely!
