This week's FGT was held at New Port and was well attend. Pete and Debbie sent their apologies as they had an urgent problem with an electricity bill from before they had bought the land for their house!!!! Jan (Kaz), Anne, Chrissa and her friends Michelle and Robert and of course Steve and myself gathered round our coffees and soft drinks for a good old chin wag. The many changes that Roda has seen over the years were discussed and old memories dug up. The talk never strayed far from food of course and the perennial problems of getting decent priced holidays to Roda despite the tour companies. The two new villas for rent were much discussed. Kostas' from Roda Park and the new Villa Victoria next to Alexandros on the beach. The later is very expensive but it is for a very large party seeking luxury and all mod cons. Kostas' villa Villa Roda Park is smaller, but still well equipped with its own pool and gated garden just off the centre of the village. Both are available through Booking.com.
A thousand apologies to anyone at today's fgt at Roda Park, myself and Jackie sat patiently at The Newport waiting for everyone to turn up!!!!!! Will have to put it down to a senior moment! Kath , Brian, Kelly & James did not fare any better, they thought today was Tuesday!! pete.
Belated apologies from the 4 of us - we did indeed think it was Tuesday - it was only when Pete told us he was in the wrong location that we realised it was in fact Wednesday - we are putting it down to our 7 hour delay on Monday! I'm sure Kostas was already up. We have a car for 3 days next week so like Pete could be anywhere.
Apologies from us also I realised it was Wednesday at about 2.30 so missed it altogether as well must have had sun brain!!! - was good to meet up again at New Port the week before though and see some new faces. Unfortunately we won't be at Crusoes on Wednesday as we are now back home so roll on next year and enjoy the rest of the summer everyone xxx
FGT at PIRATES 13th JULY 2016 Apologies for the very late report of our FGT at Pirates, it kept falling off the radar! On a hot sunny day we gathered quite a group together, there was Steve and myself, Dave and Linda, Robert Bell, Davey H and Theresa and her daughter Lauren. We discussed many things, amongst them the rubbish situation, and how busy Roda was, especially along the beachfront area. It was basically a good natter amongst new and old friends.
Our weekly meeting was held at Skouna and was well attended. There was Steve and myself, Andy Smith, Cath and Rob, Mrs Depp and daughter aka Sarah and Zoe, and geordie Andy (really must find out his surname!). Andy Smith, whose daughter got married at Ninos on the Beach last year was telling us how his daughter's last minute decision to join her parents out here for 11 days strained the rooms at Ninos (they were full) and they were having to spend their last few days at the former Sun Rose along the beach road to Acharavi. When I mean last minute, it was that literally. One hour before Andy and his wife were heading for the airport their daughter had got her dad to book the flight (last seat), had gone home and packed, left a note for her husband, and was heading to Roda! Andy was full of praise for the Sun Rose but the new people hadn't quite got their act together and had no beer for the 'happy hour' of buy one beer and get another free! But situation, cleanliness etc were excellent. There was also a fair amount of discussion about gardening and how our little plot is doing. At the moment it looks mental, but is providing us with way too much to eat. Vegetarian because there is no space for the meat!
