Roda has now been included in the trend for couples leaving padlocks, sometimes engraved, at a tourist site visited, or somewhere very special for them. Paris had to remove a whole section of bridge railings with over 2 tons of padlocks. On our travels through Europe we have seen them everywhere from Venice, Florence, Verona and even Durham! In fact we have plans to be leaving one somewhere on our travels south next year. We found this one attached to the bridge over the stream by The Afrodite. I don't know who Michaela and Dirk are, but I hope they have a long and happy life together and come back to Roda many many times. By the way SWALL means 'sealed with a loving lock'!

I must be very hard-hearted - 'pervy' is the word I was looking for!

Hi, I know who Dirk and Michaela are! They are a couple who I saw in August when in Roda, usually sitting outside The Dolphin on an afternoon. Middle aged couple from Germany,he has been coming to Roda for a long time and is well known in the village. Bit eccentric... but aren't we all!
Cheers, Malc
