We are due to stay at Blue Gardens arriving next Sunday BUT I have just read the last few reviews on trip advisor and my god PANIC has set in....When we booked this place was rated number 1 in speciality lodgings but now im thinking should i ask travel agent to try change our accomadation, as i m really not happy now. I was so looking forward to coming to Roda but now im thinking this could be a disaster. Did any of you guys on here ever stay at Blue Gardens? Please let me know your thoughts?

I've never stayed there myself but out 139 reviews on TripAdvisor, 131 are either Very Good or Excellent which even with my poor grasp of maths makes it about 5% who weren't happy. I would happily take those odds anytime. Holidays are a matter of perception, I might think somewhere is wonderful, the next person might hate it, but if the vast majority like it as would appear to be the case here, hopefully you shouldn't have anything to worry about, other than which drink to order first!
I hope you have a lovely holiday, wherever you end up.

I’ve never stayed there either, but I’ve had the conducted tour and they seemed to be everything that people had said about them. Their reputation is very favourable and I’d have no problem at all with the short walk into Roda, day or night. I haven’t read the reports on TA, but some people do complain about anything & everything and I often wonder if they’ve ever been here at all.

Sometimes other businesses put up bad reviews to try and get trade! CC

I know a few people that have stayed at the Blue Gardens and they had a great time. They said the pool area, bar and rooms were spotless. Remember, wherever you stay in Roda you will get a friendly welcome. When you are there, make sure you have a wander around the village and try as many other pools as you can. Take towels with you and have a drink/snack in them as you are welcome in all of them. Many people do this to find other places to stay in future holidays in Roda. Most owners will be happy to show you their rooms if you ask. I'm sure you will love the Blue Gardens even if you find the location of other pools/accommodation more suited to your needs. When you go out take plenty of water with you as you'll need walking back up that slope if the temperatures remain high

I’m probably more aware of mobility problems than most, John, but I can only advise here for the majority. If someone has a particular problem with health, then clearly, that alters the advice. I am knockin’ on a bit now, and I have a knee problem, but I would still not have any difficulty walking to Blue Gardens.

I understand that, John, and I would never recommend Blue Gardens to you. The vast majority however would have no problems. I don’t have a photo, cruiser, as I’ve never considered it particularly important. It’s a bit more than a lane, I think, but that depends on whether you live in town or country. Even the gradient would not be evident in a photo. I do appreciate that most able-bodied people have less awareness of slopes & gradients - I was once assured that I’d have no problems pushing a wheelchair to Sfakera! I have however, pushed that same wheelchair up to and past Blue Gardens on many occasions.

you dont know me steve until yesterbay you were unaware of my knee problems so as for reccomending or not ,it makes no differemce.i still maintain that incline is not as easy to walk up as you suggest.especially in the current weather conditions,

I was responding to what you said in your post, John, nothing more. Personally, I treat that as a level road and find that it barely has any incline as the rise in elevation is over several hundred metres. The one from there up to Roda Beach is much more of a challenge, but many people still walk that way - some carrying six-packs of water! As I said earlier, my opinion was for the majority.

I agree with Steve - the incline up to Roda Beach Hotel is a killer - wouldn't want to do that one very often. As for the one from Blue Gardens - I only did that once and cant remember it being too bad - perhaps Dave/Linda may see this and come on with an opinion - I'm guessing they will walk that way from where they live - I could be wrong though.
