Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely morning, we have blue skies, some cloud, the smallest of breezes, some haze and the promise of a beautiful late September day. One for heading to the beach to enjoy the warm sunshine. Yesterday was just as nice as the day before, it was sunny with a bank of clouds over the mainland, and the odd one over Corfu. The breeze though started from nothing and built up enough to blow those clouds further south, and it persisted into the evening. We didn't go out last night, but it was a cool, dry and reasonably clear night after the usual pretty sunset. The evenings and nights are definitely getting cooler, so if you are out and about you need another layer, especially if by the sea.
Today's readings at 10am on 30th September are:- Temperature 20.3°C (real feel 20°C) and humidity 75% (dew point a nice 15°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.3°C and the minimum was 17.8°C, the maximum humidity was 79% and the minimum 62% The reported UV for today is 4 (Range 1- 11), you can bring out the lower factor sunscreen now, but still take care if you burn easily, this UV is the same as you get in the summer in the UK.

Good morning from Roda. Kalo mena (have a good month) to all my readers from a very sunny Roda. We have blue skies with some thin high clouds, loads of sunshine and no wind. The visibility over the sea to Albania is good with the mountains looking clear. It promises to be a lovely first of October. Yesterday was a lovely day for the last day in September. We had blue skies and some clouds that did ,at times, obscure the heat of the sun, and the afternoon breeze picked up to give us some spectacular waves away from the sheltered beach at Roda. The wind died down a lot in the evening to give a pleasant starlit night that was quite mild for the time of year (Steve may disagree as he donned a fleece and was wishing for trousers when we went into the village at night).
Today's readings at 10am on 1st October are:- Temperature 21.5°C (Real feel 23°C) and humidity 70% (Dew point a nice 16°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 25.6°C and the minimum was 18.0°C, the maximum humidity was 77% and the minimum 59% The reported UV for today is 5 (Range 1- 11) So keep slapping on that sunscreen that sun is hot.

Good morning from Roda. We have sunshine but also a fair amount of high clouds that are not hiding the sun. There is a gentle breeze and our mountains are hazy and Albania is not so clear across the sea. Yesterday was beautiful, we had wall to wall sunshine, the clarity was almost as good as in the winter, so we could see the roads and villages in Albania clearly. There were clouds around but they didn't stop the sunshine. I am not sure if it was an atmospheric thing but there were so many airplane trails across the blue sky. There seemed to be a mass departure from Corfu airport as the flight path was directly overhead yesterday. We had a lovely but not spectacular sunset, leading into a lovely but coolish evening. All in all it was a perfect day for the first day in October, soaking the rays up and enjoying several swims in the sea. Though I must admit the sea is definitely starting to cool down a bit. The low dew point means that the grass is very wet in the morning and takes its time to dry.
The readings for today at 10am on 2nd October are:- Temperature 20.7°C (Real feel 21) and humidity 64% (dew point a good 14%) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.4°C and the minimum was 17.8°C, the maximum humidity was 76% and the minimum 55% The reported UV for today is 5 (Range 1- 11) So sunscreen still required to stop the burn.

Jan talked about the clarity of the air yesterday, and the views of Albania that were almost as clear as in winter. This was one:

Good morning from Roda. We have very calm conditions at the moment. There is a lot of cloud up there with some blue patches, so hopefully we will get some sun today. Albania and our mountains are hazy, with Albania quite indistinct across a silvery sea. At times all that can be heard is the bird song. Unfortunately then the chain saws and strimmers leap into action, or a motorbike roars down the main road. Yesterday was very pleasant, we did have cloud but it did break to give some long sunny spells, long enough to enjoy a swim. Though I am sure that someone is filling the sea with cold water overnight, it seems to get cooler every day! The clouds disappeared to give a lovely starry evening. The waning half moon rose around 11pm with the most spectacular orange shade, streaked with the odd linear cloud and beautifully reflected across St George's bay. Only had my mobile with me and it failed to catch the beauty we were seeing.
Today's readings at 10am on 3rd October are:- Temperature 20.2°C (real feel 20°C) and humidity 69% (Dew point a pleasant 14°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.5°C and the minimum was 16.4°C, the maximum humidity was 72% and the minimum 53% The reported UV for today is 3 (Range 1- 11) but if lying out in the sun please use sunscreen.

Good morning from Roda. We awoke to a cloudy sky that is gradually getting bluer as the morning progresses. The sun is shining. We had some rain overnight, the towels that I left out are damp, as are the steps and the plants. The mountains behind us are hazy and Albania has disappeared under a bank of clouds. Yesterday started off cloudy but by mid day it was clearing and the sun came out by 3 to give a pleasant afternoon. It was still just warm enough to have a good swim in the sea as it was flat calm. In fact the winds stayed away all day. The sunset was glorious as viewed through our east facing toilet window. We were too busy boiling chilli jam and making dinner to go outside to view it properly. Also the doors were shut against the mozzies!
Today's readings at 10am on 4th October are:- Temperature 21.4°C (real feel 21°C) and humidity 80% (dew point a nice 17°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.8°C and the minimum was 16.9°C, the maximum humidity was 74% and the minimum 57% The reported UV for today is 5 (Range 1- 11) So don't forget that sunscreen that sun can still burn.

Things are changing every day, particularly the weather forecasts. The one I watch is rather worrying for next Saturday when we are told to expect 52km/h winds from the south and over 4” of rain spreading down from Italy. We may stay in that day - unless the forecast changes again!

Good morning from Roda. The mornings are drawing in now, it was still dark at 7am! When we did get up later it was cloudy but very calm. Albania is just an outline and our mountains are hazy, though that is, in part, because the bonfire season has started a bit earlier than it should. The skies are clearing nicely, we are getting more and more blue patches and the sun has come out. Yesterday started out cloudy, and we had a shower of rain (some people had more than others) as the roads were wetter towards Acharavi. As the afternoon progressed it got brighter and we had good warm sunny spells. The day ended with a mild evening with some stars peeping out behind clouds. It was 21°C at 11pm, very nice for a stroll through Roda. Though the village was quieter than last month, the restaurants and bars were still fairly busy even though the season is drawing to a close.
Today's readings at 10am on 5th. October are:- Temperature 20.6°C (Real feel 21°C) and humidity 81% (Dew point a pleasant 17°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 26.1°C and the minimum was 19.3°C, the maximum humidity was 80% and the minimum 69% The reported UV for today is 5 (Range 1- 11) . Please use sunscreen if out and about in the sun, we saw some very pink sunburnt bodies yesterday, obviously had been caught out. It was after all 26°C in the shade yesterday and much much higher in full sun.

Good morning from Roda. We awoke to a lovely day. There were good blue patches amongst the inoffensive thin high clouds and the sun was shining. As the morning has progressed it has just got better and better. Albania is quite clear across the channel with clumps of clouds decorating the valleys. Our mountains and foothills are milky with haze. There is a very gentle breeze, just enough to stir my washing hanging from my Greek style washing lines strung from our balcony. It just promises to be a glorious sunny and very warm day if it continues like this, though the forecast is for it to get cloudier. Yesterday started off cloudy, but as the day progressed the clouds cleared and the sun appeared to give us a lovely afternoon with just a small sea breeze to try and cool us down. We had our usual afternoon swim in the sea. The evening was cloudy, but mild and dry.
Today's readings at 10am on 6th October are:- Temperature 21.2°C (real feel 23°C) and humidity 81% (dew point 19°C getting a bit humid) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.4°C and the minimum was 17.8°C, the maximum humidity was 81% and the minimum 72% The reported UV for toady is 5 (Range 1- 11) so slap on that sunscreen, that sun is still dangerous

Good morning from Roda. We have quite a cloud cover with good areas of blue giving us warm sunshine. We have high cloud and some thicker more ominous stuff around as we are supposed to get a bit of rain by late morning. I am never convinced until it actually rains, as so often they are wrong with our particular part of Corfu. Albania has disappeared behind a bank of clouds and our mountain range is about to do the same. But at the moment the sunshine is very nice so we will keep enjoying it whilst we may. Yesterday, after a nice sunny start, got cloudier and cloudier. But we still had some good spells of warm sunshine, though it was windier than the day before. We still managed to get a couple of swims in, though the water is getting cool and the wind chill factor didn't help when we got out. We had a lovely sunset and a mild clear evening after it. The wind had completely died down which made it pleasant for the remaining tourists.
Today's readings at 10am on 7th. October are:- Temperature 21.7°C (real feel 22°C) and humidity 78% (dew point a nice 18°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.6°C and the minimum was 18.6°C, the maximum humidity was 83% and the minimum 64% The reported UV for today is 4 (Range 1- 11) , Still use that sun screen, even if it a slightly lower factor as that sun can still burn. Think UK in the sunny summer days.

Good morning from Roda. After the brilliant thunder and lightning storm we had last night, we awoke to blue skies, warm sunshine, some clouds and a lack of wind. Albania was quite clear with a cap of clouds as were our mountains. In fact some of the clouds were rolling down the high valleys behind us. In fact I wish I had put some washing through the machine yesterday evening, it would have dried in no time. Yesterday was quite a good day, it started off cloudy but the sun did appear now and then. It got much better in the afternoon and we enjoyed a beautiful dead calm sea with some sunshine then the clouds started rolling in around late afternoon. We were watching Albania disappear into this bank of black clouds which threatened to encircle us. The wind rose up, so after a quick cup of tea on the south balcony we battened down for the storm. We had been hearing distant thunder from mid afternoon, but it was definitely getting closer and then the lightning started. It was up to the very best Corfu standards, whole areas of the sky lit up with sheet lightning interspersed with the forked variety. The rain started just before 8pm, it was fierce but short lived and had died away by quarter to nine. By the time we were walking home just after midnight the stars were out and there was hardly a cloud to be seen. I just love the weather here, good and bad, but the storms are truly amazing. I apologise for not reporting rain on Tuesday. We didn't see any but there were some very short showers were reported by Dave and Linda you live on the western edge of the village.
Today's readings at 10am on 8th. October are:- Temperature 20.4°C (real feel 23°C) and humidity 81% (dew point 17°C, comfortable) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 26.5°C and the minimum was 19.0°C, the maximum humidity was 79% and the minimum 67% The reported UV for today is 4 (Range 1- 11), so if sunbathing or walking about put on some sun screen, that sun is still quite strong.

Good morning from Roda. We have lovely blue skies, the sun is out, and we have some thin high clouds and, on the horizon, some very lumpy looking ones, not sure if they are the precursors of tomorrow's rain. There is a gentle breeze and Albania is really quite clear across the channel. Our hills and mountains are very murky. This usually changes by late afternoon recently and they become very clear and beautiful. Yesterday, the clouds built up around lunch time and then slowly disappeared to be all but gone by tea time to give a lovely sunny early evening. At 6pm it was still 23°C. There was no real wind either. The night was dry and partly cloudy, though the hills and mountains behind us seemed shrouded in mist.
Today's readings at 10am on 9th October are:- Temperature 19.9°C (real feel 23°C) and humidity 79% (dew point a comfortable 16°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.9°C and the minimum was 17.8°C, the maximum humidity was 82% and the minimum 69% The reported UV for today is 5 (Range 1- 11) It is still burny burny out there, so slap on that sunscreen.

Good morning from Roda. We are experiencing very high gusty winds at the moment. Our balconies are battened down for the approaching storm. The sky is almost uniformly light grey, but we do have the sun trying to poke its head out, and best of all it is dry for the moment. The visibility is pretty good because of the low humidity. Rain and thunderstorms are predicted to hit us later on today. However it is still quite warm which is a bonus. Yesterday was not a bad day, we had good spells of warm sunshine and not much in the way of wind. We managed to get a couple of swims in the sea. There was a nice sunset and a mild dry evening with some stars. However by just after 11pm we had light rain, not heavy enough to soak us on our walk back from the village.
Today's readings at 10am on 10th October are:- Temperature 23.5°C (real feel 25°C) and humidity 57% (dew point 15°C pleasant) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 23.8°C and the minimum was 16.9°C, the maximum humidity was 81% and the minimum 72% The reported UV for today is 3 (Range 1- 11) Don't think anyone will be sunbathing today!

Good morning from Roda. I didn't expect to wake up to blue skies today, but I did. There are clouds around, Albania is totally hidden behind a bank of them, and they are draped over our mountains behind us. There is a good breeze but as strong as yesterday, and it is nice and warm. Yesterday was not as they forecast it, as we didn't get the continuous bad weather. The winds were very strong and the gusts even more so. The thunderstorm came around lunch time with some lovely loud claps and both sheet and forked lightning, we got a couple of short lived downpours. We managed to get in and out of the village totally dry! The sea was weird. The prevailing winds were southerly and almost appeared to be pushing the waves back out to sea. Inshore there was barely a ripple, but further out there were lots of white horses. We had another downpour with very high winds during the evening and lost power for a while, but managed to watch nearly all of the rugby. The night was weird, I had seen the humidity going up, but failed to note the temperature was doing the same. We were roasted in bed and on checking, in the morning, the temperature had risen from around 22°C at midnight to a whopping 24.4°C around 3am, with an uncomfortable dew point of 22°C! Steve told me that the sheet lightning around this time was all around us and Roda became enveloped by the storm. There was rain during the night but not as much as had been forecast. Looking at reports from around the island, the storm was experienced in many different ways, some having crashing seas, others having sunshine. Weather here is never straight forward due to the many micro climates. Here, because of the mountains, the wind buffets around so that it seems to come from many different directions at the same time. Sam's wind indicators just didn't know what to do! Hopefully the half a dozen forum members heading back to Newcastle this morning suffer no delays, Kalo taxidi (safe journey).
Today's readings at 10am on 11th October are:- Temperature 22.3°C (real feel 22°C) and humidity 79% (dew point 18°C comfortable) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 25.8°C and the minimum was 19.1°C, the maximum humidity was 80% and the minimum 52% The reported UV for today is 4 ( Range 1- 11) If you do manage to sunbathe today use the sunscreen it is warm today.

This is what we woke up to yesterday morning, the mountains behind Roda & Acharavi looking decidedly milky.
