Ah! that's a shame - maybe a tad early and not many people around? Hope Dave had his yellow t-shirt on !

Awww, Dave & Linda. Not seen them for ages! If anyone sees them, send them my love. May manage to drag myself along to the one on the 1st July.

That turn-out for the first FGT of the season is not really very surprising at all - - - as, if you check Pete's list of those Forum members who have given their holiday dates at rodaonline.proboards.com/thread/4990/booked-2015 there is absolutely no one listed for this week !!!

Has any thought ever been given to holding FGT’s at the often forgotten/unknown Acharavi end of the village? This question does have a personal root to it, as my family ran a bar at that end (Blue Bay, which became Gallery and is now a travel shop next to Spiros Banos’ supermarket). We often had people that would wander along on rainy days and would tell us that they didn’t realise that there was anything beyond the bridge (i.e. past Harbour Bar). I realise that the centre is the heart of the village and that the likes of Brandy Shop and The Boathouse are small but expect they could still accommodate FGT’s at the beginning or end of the season. Aside from this I have long since thought that another groin should be put in the sea further down that way and I found it quite distressing seeing how little road there is left near Nino’s. I spoke with Andreas (Harbour Bar) about this and he hinted that there are local politics within the council at the heart of this. This is just a friendly suggestion and is certainly not written with any malice (I wouldn’t want another post going off in a confused tangent). Antony

I couldn’t agree with you more, Antony - that area of Roda, which is known as Perama, deserves a lot more support. I think The Boathouse has done a lot to get people to return once they have found it, and the new terrace at Jon & Michelle’s bar is a very popular spot.
The first thing to say is that we only hold FGTs at venues that support RodaOnline and, beyond the bridge, there is only Nino’s & Venus. The same problem applies to other supporters such as Tropicana, Melinda, Metallinos and Oasis, but we have asked members before if they would attend FGTs at these places. Unfortunately, no one wants to venture far out of the village centre.
Again, I agree about extra groynes and we can already see the effect this year of what is there now. How much of the problem is politics and how much is down to cost, it is hard to say. One day, maybe ...
Steve
