Motor yacht Katara is one of the World’s largest super-yachts and it is currently moored in the main harbour at Corfu Town, complete with helicopter. The yacht has a length of 124 metres, making her the 14th largest yacht in the world, although measured by volume, she would rank much higher. It is registered in Doha, Qatar. Luxury yacht Katara has an estimated cost price of USD 300 million and was delivered to the Emir of Qatar in 2010. One wonders who is currently using it, especially as there is also a nearby military ship standing offshore.

Hi Steve, I've enquired and the yacht is not currently available for Private Charter! The mystery deepens, Cheers, Malc

On one visit to Corfu, we were sat waiting to order at The Rex Restaurant, just behind the Liston. To our surprise, and somewhat concern, the street outside the restaurant filled with men blocking off the street either side of the restaurant. Then a large group appeared who were obviously of a rich and high status. This turned out to be the family of the Emir of Qatar and himself. Needless to say, we were asked to wait to be served, which being intrigued agreed. Eventually we ate, and enjoyed our dinner, and the company on the other table. They left in a line of large cars, but not before someone approached us and thanked us on the Emir's behalf for waiting.
We were quite taken aback at the drama and experience. Later that evening we saw a very large luxury motor yacht anchored in the bay, with a warship close by, and the Greek Patrols boats.
Eddie Jordan is in the Mediteranean at the moment on his brand new 151m what called "Blush". Built in Poole by Sunseeker, costing £137m. Saw it being launched, very impressive.

Well, there are images online of it moored in the bay at the Rothchild's on the 30th August, must have a little cash though as it costs €630,000 per week to charter! Who would have hired a floating palace like this?
Cheers, Malc

Well, after much investigating it seems it could be the former Emir himself, as he has purchased and island called Oxeia in the Enchinades and spends the summer months cruising the Ionian, his and our favourite place then!
Cheers, Malc

The thing is, Malc, it costs the Emir 630,000 for a week in Corfu and I bet he never gets into the villages or meet local people. I think that £630 for a family of four in Roda is a far better deal. Such is the price of wealth!
