We wanted to try a meal in Acharavi this year just for a change. Which would members advise? Pumphouse? Or Acharavi Park?or any other little gems I might like? Andy Smith

So much depends on what you like to eat. Dave & Linda like Acharavi Park - maybe we'll try it this year. A lot rave about the Pumphouse, but I found it much the same as many others. That's not to say it's ordinary because we do have so many good restaurants. If you are like us, it's good to find something a little different sometimes. There were very good reports about the new Alegria Tapas Restaurant and I think it may now be open again after the tragic accident earlier this year. I like the look of the tiny Pavarotti Italian Restaurant offering meals from Calabria - it all looks very primitive and just the sort of backstreet place creating superb meals. Again, a visit is on the cards soon. Personally, I would always seek out a restaurant offering a smaller selection of meals and maybe a daily 'bistro' type special - the sort of place where the chef went to the market that day and created a meal from the best ingredients he could find. There's lots of choice ...

Great advice, thanks Steve. Last year, I went for a ramble, and found myself in Acharavi. If you walk from the pump house towards the little roundabout, and sort of fork off to the right, about 50 yards up their is a small white restaurant, that served grilled sardines, and chilled white wine. I know what Steve means, I totally stumbled uponit and it was amazing. Couldn't remember the name of it, but the outside decking area came to a point. Highly recommended!!!

Alegria is open, it serves a mezes type menu, found the food and the service first class. Steve where is this small Italian restaurant? Have tried Quattro (Italian) in Ag Steph NW and only a small menu, fresh home made pasta, again first class. Ta Rebetika is the name of the restaurant near the Pumphouse. CC

We walked along to Acharvi last year and tried the Pumphouse but to be honest it was no better than most of the restauraunts in Roda.

Having sampled the delights of both restaurants we find that that the Acharavi Park just shades it. Our reasons being that the last time we went to the Pump House we were invaded by flies, mozzies etc & nothing was done to alleviate the problem. I known the "infestation" of flies etc is natural but nothing was done in the Pump House to make our meal enjoyable.
Don't let this review put you off as this may have been a freak night - wherever you eat ENJOY !!!!

As Kathwebber we always visit the Odysseus in Acharavi at least once during our holiday, as we do miss them so much since they moved from Roda, to be honest haven't tried any of the other restaurants, we normally only visit Acharavi during the day, must make an effort to sample a little of the evening entertainment this year
