When you say El Mor Bar are you referring to the restaurant called El Mar on the seafront in Roda. If so, I dont think it claims to be a bar (and certainly not a cocktail bar). It is a restaurant and opened last year - it quickly became the No.1 restaurant in Roda - see Trip Adviser. Glad you are planning on returning next year.

Kath,I know it was no 1,but I would have liked the same as in any other Roda restaurant,I had some wonderful Cocktails everywhere, but they could not make one in El Mar,and everybody has their own ideas on drinks with their meals

A varied report covering a number of bars, tavernas and restaurants. The problem is most places whilst it seems they all offer the same things will emphasise different things such as cocktails, main meals or just snacks. Some have quizzes, others greek nights you cant expect them all to offer the same who would want that? As mentioned in a previous post El Mar (Mor) focusses on good food in terms of both quality and presentation it is not a cocktail bar. Skouna bar (the clue might be in its name) is excellent for snacks (did you try the waffles?)and drinks throughout the day and night. Although I haven't been yet this year I believe they may well be selling a small number of simple meals (for the first time) perhaps its wise for them to build on this in the future rather than going full out at the start. I'm not sure of the value of a random marking scheme as everyone will have their own experiences and interpretations other than perhaps putting people off going to a place in the future because it has been badly reviewed. Is it really fair to Roxannes (Rosannes?)to be 'marked' so low on the basis of one visit?

The food in El Mar is 1st class! I usually go to a bar if I want cocktails, but that's just me.

As SMG says, all the Roda establishments have their own area of expertise and to compare an excellent restaurant like El Mar with a cocktail bar is unfair. Like Jacks, I will stick with going to restaurants for good food and to bars for drinks and cocktails - each to their own.

Just read the original post again 'Roda Park Bar' I'm not sure Costas would appreciate his establishment being referred to as a bar !!!

Opinions are one thing as we all have different expectations but points scoring in my opinion is out of order. For a first time Roda visitor they would probably bypass those given a low score and for all the wrong reasons.
Over the years I have eaten and drank in all of those mentioned and can't fault any one of them. As Kathwebber say's if you want a meal go to a restaurant if you want cocktails got to a bar simple

every body is different,as far as El Mor,if it is on the menu, then serve it,Same goes for Skouna,I do not think Costas at Roda park would take offence, every meal where-ever it was was great, the same as Roda which was brilliant, but there should not be arguing amounst the staff as there was in Roxannes, people can pick problems with all topics,it is always open for debate

Applejack If it was Greeks who appeared to be arguing then you may have mistaken it as such. But Italians and Greeks speak with passion and with there hands it does not mean that they were arguing.

I agree with Kath and it's a good job we are not all the same ... "vive la difference!". As has been said, El Mar is a restaurant not a bar, and one of the best. The limited menu is because all the meals are cooked freshly while you wait. Personally, I shy away from enormous menus because they cannot possibly cook that range of food while you wait. I am so glad that all of our restaurants are different in some way as, by so doing, they can compete for our business. If they were all the same, prices would go down followed quickly by quality. Skouna is possibly the best bar/cafe around and now they do food. They are not a restaurant and they are testing the market with a small & unique range of starters & main courses with all ingredients locally sourced ... what more can you ask?

Applejacks I was not dissing the Greeks or Italians my Mother was Italian and I was just stating that they speak loudly and with their hands and it could appear to some that they were arguing but not always the case. Some would think my Mum and dad were arguing at times but they were just speaking with passion. No I was not there I was just forming an opinion that it may have looked that way to you. my mistake.
