Since Steve and Julie will not be online for 2 days I think, I thought maybe it would be nice to post at the forum , your dearest memory /or a short story that remembers you of Roda /Kerkyra or Julie and Steve . So they have something to remind them of Roda while they are in the UK. !!!! Hope you all join in! ;D Greetzz from Holland. Petra

What a lovely idea Petra. I'd like to start by saying how pleased I was to finally meet Julie and Steve in June this year. I joined the original forum not long after it started and really enjoyed talking to other people who loved Roda as much as I do and sharing each others experiences. I've been going to Roda most years, sometimes twice a year for 14 years and can't imagine ever going anywhere else. Unfortunately due to moving house we couldn't go to Roda last year and although I still joined in on the forum I felt as though I was missing out on something. I wanted to meet Julie and Steve as well as other members and I wanted to look out for all the old riddles as well as maybe some future ones so when we finally got back to our beloved Roda in June this year and met Julie and Steve as well as Pete, Bigjohn and Sue I really felt a sense of belonging. We all understand each other, we know why we keep coming back. What Julie and Steve have created is a community of people who all have one thing in common - we all love Roda - and for this I am very grateful Nikki xx

I am sorry to say that I have never met Julie & Steve, yet since the start up of the Roda Online and Forum I feel I have come to know them in spirit, and look forward to the day that we can meet up. I find Steve has a similar sense of humour to myself, and that Julie obviously rules the roost so to speak, ;D , I mean that nicely of course. I have only every past through Roda, stopping off for a coffee, many moons ago. My usual base in Kontokali down on the east coast. However, since I have been adding what little I know, mainly on the holiday front, I am certain a change of venue is in the pipeline. Therefore, it only leaves me to say a big thankyou to Julie and Steve for bringing back the Roda Forum and Roda Online, and showing that with good people up front, and a good team, it can work, and work very well. Enjoy your couple of months break in the UK, and we look forward to seeing on the boards now and then, and on your return. Best Wishes Chris

I can only echo what Nikki has said, we too met Julie & Steve for the first time in June. The forum meetings are great because we are all on the same wavelength, you feel that you already know everyone as soon as you sit down, you then spend the rest of your holiday smiling, nodding & waving at your fellow members, not to mention having the odd late night drink or two with them. My biggest memory though is Steve in his pink dress - keeps me smiling every time i think about it ! pete.

Me and Linda joined the old forum after booking to go to Roda last January and Julie and Steve steered us in the right direction about the numerous questions we fired at them. You name it they answered them Although i was a bit under the weather that week ,we did meet them at Smileys for a drink and i must say what a nice couple they are. They are just like they are on the forum..........smashing. We liked Roda so much that we have booked to go again for 2 weeks this time in August next year and hopefully get about a bit more. And lastly the people of Roda made us very welcome. Steve

I first visited Roda a very long time ago (in 1981), and I instantly fell in love with the beautiful island of Kerkyra. We stayed at the big (now Mitsis) Roda Beach hotel and I have a lot of good memories ( Olive press/ Cricri). I kept coming back to the island every few years; I visited Ipsos, Pyrgi, Acharavi twice and Ag Georgios south. A four years ago we were staying in Acharavi, and we walked along the beach to Roda to see the Beachvolleyball Masters. And like in 1981 ,I very much liked the atmosphere, the people and the village . It already felt as if not much had changed. We had dinner at Smileys and we felt very welcome there, my kids both got a little present from one of the waiters and they still remember that. This summer we were staying at Ag. Georgios south. Because I had been a guest (and later on joined in as a member) to the Rodaforum for a while, it already felt as if I "knew" Julie a little bit. I told her we would try to come to the FGT if my family would join me on a tour around the island. And so we did, we visited Roda and we met Julie and Steve ,and Kostas of RodaPark restaurant . It seemd like we had been there all day, but in fact we were only in Roda for an hour or two. We talked about all kind of things but mostly about life in Roda and also about our plans , leaving Holland to come and live in Kerkyra. Because of the enthousiasm of Julie and Steve, we were almost sure our destination had to be (become ) Roda. Thanks to Kosta and Julie and Steve, I also met an old friend from Loft carhire (along the villageroad) that I last saw 25 years ago. So, only good memories for us. Even my brother-in-law who used to go to places like Mexico on holidays, will be joining us again next summer to visit Roda. He told us that since last summer he understands why we like the island of Kerkyra so much. You have to experience it to get the feeling....!! Thanks Steve and Julie, I already knew the village but I discovered it "again".

Through this forum, I felt I knew Julie & Steve before I eventually got to Roda this year, so it was great to actually meet them in October. A great couple who are doing so much to promote Roda (a fantastic little village)....the people (wonderful, kind, friendly, full of fun) ....the businesses (too many to mention). Keith and I bumped into them almost everyday of the fortnight we were there and exchanged a bit of 'banter'.
Went to two FGT's and met Northboy (Ian), Gail & Rob and Dave & Linda, it was really good to meet these 'friends' and put faces to names......although I feel I know many of you now anyway.
We'll miss the daily updates on village life but will look forward to February with anticipation, when you will be back in "God's Little Acre" and will have loads of news for us to feast on.
Have a great holiday here in the UK (ugh) and keep warm.
Jean xxx
p.s. Sadly I wasn't lucky enough to see this much talked about 'Pink Dress'.....

I too can only echo the sentiments of everyone. It was great to meet julie and steve in october,we also got to meet jean and dave and linda all because of the fgt which i would never have known about had i not joined the online forum. It is through this forum and its members that i feel i have added to my growing list of friends over the years going to roda.I hope i will meet up with more of you next year.
It is great that julie and steve dedicate so much of their time promoting roda and its people it is such a great place to be a very relaxing holiday and a place that i would love to live in. Well done julie and steve for putting roda firmly on the map we all hope you have a well deserved rest in preparation for what we all hope will be a great forthcoming season.

Thanks Chris, I really enjoy your contributions to our Forum and I understand just how important it is to be linked to other good web sites. I wish i could spend more time on Holidays Corfu, but I have made a small start and will continue to do so. Your image of ruling the roost reminds me of our first summer at Eftichia's apartments. At the bottom of the garden was a chicken run and there were two turkeys also who shared the pen. I had never realised before that turkeys roosted at night and inside the pen was a small tree into which they went at dusk. I guess that the leader of the pack went to bed last to confirm his seniority except that, one night, there was such a commotion as the branch broke and he fell to the ground. There were leaves & feathers everywhere but I think it was his pride that was hurt more than anything else. So much for those who seek to rule the roost & I wonder if Aesop ever wrote anything about such things? Julie beware! Steve
