Hi michaelandpauline
We have been going to Corfu for over 35 years way before this queuing like cattle lark was introduced. Yes it must be very annoying to be herded like cattle to a waiting area. I appreciate that the reps want to keep everyone in the same place but it's not for me.
We used to book hotel and flights separate but it's far cheaper to do it via tour operator but we don't take the coach transfer I have a car waiting in the car park and make my own way same on the return. One year at the hotel the Thomas cook rep in no uncertain terms told me that although we make our own way that we must join the queue and threatened to take me out of the check in queue if I didn't obey her and join the cattle market so I told her where to get off. I make my own way in the check in queue with no problem.
that choice is up to you but I like to do things my way I'm too old to be treated like a school child.
Rant over

I'm the same as Gil, been going to Corfu for many a year, fell for the rep telling us what to do one year then returned to doing it my way since. Was told one year by a rep as I entered the Check in queue, "you have to go outside and be called in", to which I replied, "you haven't looked after me for my two weeks holiday, what makes you think I need you now". The look on her face was a picture!
