Hi there, I popped into the travel agent and said " I want a week in the sunshine; quiet but not dead, alive but not thumping". And so I come to Roda on Monday [9th sept]!! And I travel alone.Does Greek culture cater for the single traveller? Can you recommend a restaurant with simple, good Greek food? I am staying at the Kosmas. Many thanks for any advice. Gary.

Gary, First of all your user name made me chuckle as I am in fact a Jolley by name and nature. My partner and I will be in Roda from Friday night onwards sampling the good delights that Roda has to offer. This is my twentieth visit to Roda so I'm quite accustomed as to where to enjoy great good Greek food. There are many traditional Greek tavernas in the village and the best recommendation anyone could give is to sample as many different ones that take your fancy. People are still recommending nice tavernas to me, I don't think you will go wrong no matter where you try.

El Mar is a new taverna opened this year. Lovely Greek food & usually live Greek music most nights.
I can almost guarantee you that you will not regret chosing Roda. I've been going for 20 years now - this year, i'm heading out for a second visit, in 4 weeks time.

Our first night Friday we went to the Drossia. Ordered two Greek salads for starters, followed with Pastisada and Steak and onions for the main course. The meals were excellent and it was like a meat festival on a plate. Looks like El Mar next thanks to your recommendation Jacks.

Both places are excellent. Drossia wins on portion size but the presentation and quality in El Mar is second to none. I would recommend everything on the menu but particularly liked the calamari starter and the sofrito.

Tried the El Mar Saturday night, wonderful meal, nicely presented, and excellent value. We will be going to try more from the menu during our stay.
