That information is now out fo date, Chris. Charlie can now be contacted through his new website on VENUS APARTMENTS 2014. Our Roda Pages details will be changed soon. It should be noted that there are reviews on Trip Advisor that refer to another similarly named complex in the south of the island and Venus in Roda generally gets very good reports.

I can't comment personally but 2 ladies (who were there at the same time as us - the last 2 weeks) said they were poor.
We all accept 'Greek basic' but this was things like the towels being replaced with ones that weren't properly washed.

Venus Apartments are not basic and I wonder if there is some confusion that has arisen out of recent events. Charlie has modernised his half of the complex and only those rooms are advertised with Cosmos Holidays under the name Venus Apartments. His sister owns the other half and they have not been modernised. She is now offering them to visitors under an online agency and under a different name. They are lower in standard and cheaper as a result. The photos on that site do, erroneously, show Charlie's pool and it is entirely possible that people are confused. If you book through Cosmos Holidays, or contact Charlie direct through his website, you will be allocated a modernised room at Venus Apartments.

Steve the apartments I was asking about were advertised as Venus Apartment "not any other name?"
Anyways they are to far from Roda Centre going.
Thanks for the input. :-)

In Charlie's defence, even though the apartments are advertised as Venus, the "two ladies" may have stayed in the older part of the complex. Looking through the Trip Advisor reviews, most negative comments seem to be in respect of his sister's apartments which were not modernised. The rooms at Venus are certainly superior to Panorama and the location is much sought after because of its relaxing atmosphere and fantastic pool. Venus is about a 5 minute stroll along the seafront to the first of Roda's bars.

This is another case of bad poor information shown by Trip Advisor, no doubt on the proviso of someone who had a bad holiday, and did not like Corfu in general.
I booked a holiday in Kontokali a few years back, and after doing so was surfing the internet on information, came across Trip Advisor for the first time, and was shocked to read reports from other previous customers that the owners Alexis and Spiros were like Nazis, and the hotel was in a less than one star rating, appalling.
Too late to do anything, so I did not let the other 12 members of the party know what I found. Fingers crossed all the way to Corfu, to arrive in what can only be described as a wonderful, clean, friendly and bright hotel, met by Alexis and Spiros, who were the heart and soul of the hotel. They could not do enough for you, so much so we all clubbed in and brought a present for them both which we knew they would like, and we took them out for a meal on our last evening. We had a fantastic two weeks.
I sent review to the Trip Advisor, and they deleted the previous comments.

That is very true, Chris - I like Trip Advisor and it is an important site where Roda is concerned, but people need to keep some perspective where reviews are concerned. I have just had reports from two other business owners and they feel there is no consistency with what people are saying .. a poor report one year can be totally reversed the following year by the same person when nothing has changed. It is acknowledged that these reviews are useful but, as with all statistics, you should remove the very best and the very worst, and look at the average of more meaningful reports in the middle.

I agree with both comments above some people expect to get the Ritz when they go abroad they want to pay as little as possible get a 5 star hotel and then complain about minor things like they didn't have tomato sauce for their English breakfast etc etc etc the majority of us go for the culture and accept that it's not the Ritz or the like and form our own opinions. Lets face it Corfu is not Dubai or Vagas but that's what we like about it the culture and the basicness about it pot holes and all it just gets my back up. To us Corfu is 5 star in it's own right and some people should get a life and if it's not for them don't spoil it for others and go somewhere else just because you don't like it doesn't mean others will. If you didn't like it keep it in house there is no need to make it public just like someone did a while ago and gave a points rating for the food they had some just like to complain in general (Rant over)

I DONT want and DONT expect 5* accommodation but I do expect the accommodation to be clean and the towels and sheets changed more than once during the 2 week stay!!!!
The Panorama I think is a better option for us!

I would like to confirm and agree with Gil's comment as I have just returned from two weeks staying at the Shanghai Ritz and everything about it definitely was 5 star! Keep smiling everyone,
Cheers, Malc
