I mentioned to Pipitsa that the internet speed was a bit slow, at best we were getting only 1.7 mbs, next thing she had upgraded her subscription and now we are getting over 7.mbs,(about 2x what I was getting in the U.K.) , just another example of nothing being too much trouble for her to make her guests stay enjoyable. Thank you Pipitsa. pete.

The perfect host! Think it is time we tried her apartments - only heard glowing reports about them from everyone who has stayed there.

Funny thing Just coming back after 4 weeks stay, I have the impression, that many hotels and apartments started a kind of run to be quoted as "the best" or "number 1 in ranking" in several online-forums. Funny(!) because if you pay to these forums (e.g. trips advisor), you'll be placed higher and strongly promoted. Pipitsa doesn't do this - instead she takes a lot more money to invest it for her customers into even more and better quality. So please make you own choice: Take (paid) top-ranked accomodation finding low standards, when you arrive, or simply choose a stay, where no demands keep open? Coming to Roda for more than 20 years I tested a lot of accomodations (hotels and apartments) before, but having found Pipitsas four years ago, I would nevermore let this quality go. So my definite number-one-apartment in Roda: Pipitsas Apartments...or does anyone else know another in Roda combining all this: - facilities (washing-machine, toaster, squeezer, espresso-machine, microwave, oven, DVD, sat-TV, flatscreens in every room etc.)
- cleanliness
- top-service (the internet is only one example; last year an Aircondition broke, and -although staying in Corfu town that day, she bought a new one and had it fixed within hours)
- cost-performance-ratio
- aircon included
- central but quiet position

TripAdvisor uses a proprietary formula to create the criteria that gives a hotel its particular ranking. One of the things they look at is the dates of the latest reviews. If a hotel has twenty new reviews each week, whether positive or negative, it will help boost its ranking. Recent reviews are more important because potential guests want to know what is happening at the hotel now!
TA has a new concept called review Matrix …. in it’s basic (free) form it let’s you see what % of 100 your business has on TA.
If you BUY the advanced version you can keep tabs on your competitors with an alert if your competitors get too close …. you then ring up your marketing company who will then ‘find’ a 100% perfect review … and so on.
That is how 99.9999% of the businesses at the top 2/3 of TA ranking do it

Of course. There is always the exception to the rule.

That's really funny . So if there is an accomodation, that is old, disgusting and simply c**p, this could cause many many people to write (bad) reviews in TA. So this house could probably become rank one? This is a real funny ranking, when causing a ****storm can make you 1. and some few quality-reviews can make you last. ...but I agree, that most managers react on "bad rankings" by doing marketing. I would prefer managers, who instead invest into urgently necessary renovations (e.g. a new window or bed after >20 years, or even buy new mattresses without yellow spots and linnen/towels without wholes) or raise service (How clean is the house? All lamps, TVs, fridges or aircons working? Did someone check the kitchen? Was the pool closed for 24 hours after putting chlorine, or was it only over night, risking eye-infections and allergies?) Mass instead of class - reminds me on the early 90's in Roda . Still happy to have the unique Pipitsa.

Arrived back home last Monday after our seventeen day stay with Pipitsa. Everything of course was great as usual, nothing is too much trouble for Pipitsa and her greeting is always genuine. It was good to see Pete & Debbie settling in to their new life in Corfu, we wish them all the best with their new venture and hope all goes well.
