Hi,
Me & my husband are in our in our mid twenties & want to go away next June 2009 for around 8 nights & we are considering Roda in Greece.
Being Greek myself but from Cyprus I want to show my husband some nice greek culture & do not want to go anywhere too commercial or overtaken by tourists. We are not interested in clubs or british bars either.
Can you tell me if Roda in June still has Greek charm & is not too touristy? if not pls recommend another area??
Thanks, Els

Hi els, welcome to rodaonline forum. I know from the other web site that you are looking for just the right place and I know that some of the places you mentioned would be wrong.
The difficulty you have is that almost all package tourist destinations, anywhere, have a selection of clubs and bars because that's what many visitors want. This web site, and its predecessor, were started to help people know more about what Roda offers and to encourage independent travel. Most tourists do want some form of evening entertainment and Roda caters for them - but it's not 'over the top'. We do have British bars, but they are having a tough time at the moment because the mix of tourists is changing. We also have a complete cross-section of things Greek - both new and old, and all contained in little more than a compact fishing village which is still in the hands of the few families that have been here for hundreds of years.
What you are looking for will be hard to find, but I think we come close. Roda is also a perfect centre from which to visit some of the local hillside villages where things haven't changed for years. Roda suits all ages and tastes and we are often surprised that youngsters are as passionate about the village as their grandparents are. I won't pre-empt the wealth of information you will find by searching through our site, and more is being added all the time.
If you want me to answer any specific details, please ask. I am also sure that other enthusiastic forum members will tell you why they love Roda.
Steve

Hi there,
thanks so much for your advice.
if we were to book separatly from London can you recommend which airline is cheapest & i'll have a look on your site re local apartments & hotels.
Also do you recommend beginning, middle or end of June?
Thanks again, Els

Hi els
We are hopeful but not certain that easyJet will be back again in 2009 flying from Gatwick to Corfu. Their timetable will hopefully be out at the beginning of next month or soon after.
If they do re-commence the service, then booking early with easyJet is probably your best option. We booked flights for July in January and got very good prices.
As for the best time in Roda, thn if you do want it quiet, then the beginning to middle is probably better. The weather is pretty much settled by then and it is after the half-term holidays and before the main summer vacations start.
If you would like it a little more busy then sometime from the middle of June.
Hope this helps. Julie
