Another fantastic holiday in Roda. After arriving to thunder and lightening and torrential rain four hours later we were in glorious sunshine which seemed to get hotter day by day.
We visited all of our favourite restaurants, Nikos (twice) Roxannes, Newport, and tried Drossia for the first time this year which was very good value. Spent many an hour in the Skouna. Their coffee and ice creams are amazing! Breakfast most mornings at Pirates, again, very good value. Set us up for the day. Most evenings were spent their too taking part in the quiz and Open the box!
Even my boys enjoyed themselves. at 19 and 23 I worried it would be too quiet but we all had a good laugh and a very relaxing time.
It was nice to meet up with Steve again at the FGT and to put names to faces, Kaz I hope you are feeling a bit better and hi to Norm and the Roda rambler.
We even squeezed in a couple of trips this year as normaly we love the village so much we just spend our days walking and chatting but we went to Aqualand (for the boys mainly) and Paleokastritsa which was beautiful and a trip I would recommend. A very good guide who took us to other places around the island and was very informative.
Now ladies, loathed to pay Ryanair £100 for a suitcase for the hold I was determined to take only 1 item of hand luggage. I, being the Imelda Marcos of North Wales, hubby said it was going to be an impossible feat - but I did it. Here is what I managed to pack which still came in at 9 1/2 kg just under the 10kg allowance.
Beach towel, 3 day tops, pair of capri pants, 2 day dresses, 4 maxi dresses, pair of linen trousers, 3 evening tops, 4 bikinis, underwear for 7 days, travel iron, travel hair dryer, my straighteners, make up, tablets, kindle, chargers, flip flops for pool, sandals for evening, body cream (decanted into 10l bottles)travel documents, purse, magazine, 2 travel plugs.
Simples!! The secret - this was given to me by a friend who was an air hostess. Roll every item of clothing tightly and slot into case. You get at least 1/2 as much space again by doing this and it really does work. Hubby was amazed.
We hope to go back again next year but only if we can drive it. I'm afraid my fear of flying has eventually got the better of me and coming home was the worst I have ever been on a flight and sort of ruined the end of the holiday. I really don't think I can get onto a plane again so we are looking at the possibilities of taking a couple of weeks off work and driving their and back. Will let you know!
