Hello all Is it cheaper to buy vodka from the duty free at the airport and bring it out or buy it at a mini market when we arrive. Thanks

You can't use the Duty Free shop when travelling between EU countries Tommo !!!
Given the two options you quoted, then buying in resort when you get there will be the best.

You can still buy in the airport, you just don't get duty free prices. And going by the prices in the shops, in Roda for alcohol, you'd be better buying it here in the airport (still paying tax) & it'll be cheaper - in my opinion anyway. I found the prices the past couple of years, expensive for alcohol in the shops.

Hi tommo1961, if you want to save money on alcohol, the cheapest is buying it at your local supermarket and put it in your hold luggage. If you want to support the Greek people and economy, buy it in the village shops. As Jacks says alcohol is much more expensive compared to what it used to be. Bev

Supermarkets here especially your grotty asdas and your tescos. Will always be cheaper they are multi billion pound companies that buy in bulk at low prices. Spirits are a good deal when they do the two for £20 etcs. Ive found the prices in corfu to be only few quid more. But i only drink greek beers or your ouzos or schnapps etc. So if you wanna save few quid buy now at tesco while theyve got deals on.
On anothet note if your heading to germany anytime soon spirits there are alot cheaper. Jager is £8 for 1litre etc

Hello, You are better off buying any spirits in the UK. I always take two bottles of gin in because the last gin I bought in Roda was £30. Pegasus.

Most European countries are heavily taxing spirits now and named brands can be as cheap in the UK as they are in Greece. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen gin at £30 though ... I’ll check tomorrow.

A 70cl bottle of 37.5% Gordon’s Gin today in Acharavi was costing the equivalent of just £11.18 at today’s exchange rate. Most major branded spirits were within £1 of that.

The same Gordon’s gin was offered for sale yesterday, in the Basilopoulos supermarket at Kontokoli, for €13.70 - that’s only £9.76 at today’s rate.
