Hello, I would like to introduce myself, my name is Christine I live in West Yorkshire, I have Multiple Sclerosis had it about ten years It turned my not all that exciting life upside down but I am now trying to make the best of it, ;D. I was married to an Italian but long since divorced,I have one son who is 34yrs old and at the moment is on holiday with his dad in Italy while I look after his two geriatric dogs ( so that makes three of us )
I am not a very social person, better with animals I think having a really bad memory doesn't help I forget peoples names and what they have told me and that makes me feel bad ,this is the first time I have joined something like this.
I have never been to Roda or Corfu even, always been put off by hoards of rowdy Brits but Roda sounds nice and also Arillas.
I am heat sensitive with my M S the heat makes me quit ill and Roda looks like it always has a breeze ( been looking at a few videos) I'm I right ?
Pipitsa apartments decor is just my sort of thing it looks really something.
Well I think that's it not very good with small talk so I will say my good buy.
Christine

Welcome to the forum Christine. I've been going to Roda for the last 15 years or so. It really is a lovely, friendly place. I've been to about 8 different Greek Islands, all of which are lovely, but Roda in Corfu, is by far my favourite. Roda is quite laid back and perfect for those that don't like things too lively or rowdy, but saying that, it also has it's own nightlife and charm, that is perfect for singles, couples, families both young and old. I haven't stayed at Pipitsa's myself, but have heard it is very good. I can recommend several other places to stay that are superb though, it all depends on your requirements. As for heat, it can get very hot in Roda, so I would recommend May/early June or late September/October if extreme heat is not for you. The resort itself isn't that big, but is totally flat. There is plenty to do and more than enough restaurants to eat somewhere different every night during a two week stay. There is a wealth of very knowledgable and lovely people on this forum that I'm sure will only be too happy to help answer any questions you may have. I do hope you get to experience Roda for yourself and then you will understand why so many people keep going back year after year. Regards Tony

Hi Christine, I can only echo Tony's comments. Pipitsa's apartments are first class & all the downstairs ones are only one or two steps up to the door. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to find out if Roda is for you. pete.

Hi Christine, Hope you and the geriatric dogs are doing good ? Thought I would pop on to say hi to you too . Just wanted to say I am not a great lover of really hot heat, therefor I go to Roda either the last week in June or the 1st or second week in September. Although it is still hot in Roda it is not an over bearing heat. In fact it is comfortable and you do usually get a nice breeze coming across too. The village of Roda is perfect for lots of reasons for me. There are no hill's and it is flat all along the sea front. There are some lovely places to eat and drink and the best thing of all there is no one there to spoil your holiday by being loud and seriously drunk, although I cant account for many on this forum as I am sure there is one or 2 on here that would say they are But there is no young drunken idiots as it seems that the majority of people that go to Roda are all mature ( I don't mean old either ) adults and know how to behave themselves . The people of Roda and also of the whole island are wonderful people. They always seem to remember your face from the year before and I have also known one gentleman on the other side of the island to remember me and my husband from our 1st visit to the island when we popped down there 3 years later. If you ever do decide on a holiday to Corfu, come to Roda as you wont be disappointed I certainly wasn't and I am trying to talk hubby in buying me a place to live when he retires from work ( Early I hope so I don't have to wait so long for it ) Also you couldn't wish to find a nicer bunch of guys and girls on this forum and are always here to help you on anything you want to know. Also take a look at the pictures on here of Roda and I am sure you will fall in love with it like we all have Take care of yourself and don't let them dogs get too comfortable with you looking after them

I'd recommend end May, beginning of June or September. I was there the end of June beginning of July this week & it was far to hot - and I like my heat.
I always find it starts to really heat up the middle of June.
Welcome to the forum! x

Welcome Poppy,
I agree with Jacks - we have been a few times at the end of June and it has been scorchio! I too would recommend May or early June and the middle to end of September. Roda is perfect in our opinion and you can be as "social" as you wish and no-one will bother you.
regards, Kath.

Welcome to the forum Christine and I'm sure you will love Roda. I can only reinforce what everyone has said about the weather in Roda and also about the village itself. We're all a little mad as you've probably realised by now if you've been following any of the posts on the forum. But we're a friendly bunch and all have the same thing in common....Our love of Roda and it's people, locals and visitors alike.

The Afroditi is very nice & safe as well, with a lift for disabled or wheel chair users...I have seen many staying there over the years.......( I use the lift now and not the stairs!!)...,,and I meant to say that friends have been going to Roda since late 70's (pressed wrong key before)
Hope you make it out there...................

Hi, a new member here - Paul aka norm.
My wife & me will be back in Roda on the 24th September staying at Theo's which will be our second visit there. This will be our third jaunt to Roda, last year being our honeymoon. We first stayed at the Roda Garden Village & fell in love with Roda so much we came back 10 weeks later to stay at The Coral. We have made some great friends with the locals (Alex - Smiley's - Sarah at Crusoe's) We are just looking forward to having some quality time in our little bit of heaven. We hope to catch you at the FGT on the 26th.
