I am not worried about the future of these two ladies, johnboy, merely the safety of Roda's visitors. I have reported the two main incidents and I have left it at that. The area manager has been to the village to listen to what locals have to say and we must trust him to take appropriate action.
The ladies were identifiable by virtue of their uniforms and badges which exhibit corporate responsibility & an image of unity to customers - it makes them visible by choice. It is only right that their employers are informed.
The concern about the operator supporting Roda less was not mine - it's the view of some local business people.

Hi.. don't quite know how i managed to stumble upon this however after reading all of it i felt that a comment needed to be made.
Firstly i would like to point out... no one died... secondly i don't quite know how this has all escalated into a massive slagging match...which is what it has become no matter what you think. thirdly yes a mistake was made the driver/s did go down a no entry sign however for all of you who live in roda like my self will appreciate if you live round that particular area and do have a car you'l know how much of a nightmare this can be. the reaction of the person was bang out of order...how immature..you all keep saying how the 'drivers we young' etc well dont you think it was a young response of the person who retaliated... and i think it is also wrong to keep mentioning where they park and where they live...what happened to a 'private' life. i think we should all move on what is done is done and cannot be un done....so lets all be adults and hope that it will never happen again.

Again in my view, The tour operators would continue to support and reasure visitors to Roda is a safe destination. Perhaps it's also in the interest's of the Sylogos to reasure the concerns of local business's that safety to locals & visitors is paramount. I will endeavour to contact them for a response and to assess the level of collaboration they have with the operators who's interest's is to rid itself of these individuals. I'm also sure the many visitors to Roda & members of this forum now over 500 will continue to promote Roda as a safe and fabulous destination.

Obviously, however accidents do happen...just like this one. i appreciate that of course the girl would of been frightnend and the parents... however accidents do happen and it just seems like your all out to slate.... Its like your all in high school picking on the geeky kid. im sure the people in the car are more than aware of what happened and no one will know the full true story unless they were there and saw it and even if they were its always going to get twisted in to what people want to hear.
end of.

Steve do you really think it acceptable to put where these girls live on-line. This now looks like you are trying to start a witch hunt.

Kerry baits -- this was not the first time that these girls had driven fast through the village, so they certainly don't deserve any sympathy. If they can't drive safely through the village where they know there are young children roaming around then they need to be taken to task. You can't just behave however you want just because you are in a foreign country. Perfect example of this is the disgusting behaviour displayed by 'some' whilst on holiday, behaviour they wouldn't dream of doing 'back home'.

We stay @ the Melinda every year up on the main road and that road on a night is like a racing track! and every year the same idiot on the motor bike tears up and down the road that leads from the beach up to the traffic lights and its a miracle he hasnt hurt anyone by now!

Ok so i have been sitting in roxanes most of today and almost every car and bike that has gone past has been going to fast. Its not just the visitors to the island the locals need to look at how they drive as well.

Yes I completely agree - some of the locals drive dangerously too, perhaps it would be better if the road was pedestrianised, although it would have to be enforced......

i made the comment re. where they park ,in regard that they must drive down coronation st ,turn left at the dolphin. not to start a "witch hunt "but to point out that some type of barrier would negate this, whatever the nationality of the driver , bad driving is bad driving as for end of just be thankful it wasnt the end of someones life

The incident happened within one metre of my feet as I was sitting reading by the door of Skouna and I saw everything. The girl was not running before she saw the car, the car was going far too fast and had seemingly done so several times before, the girls had been told and do know about the one-way system because they live by the Church, and there was only one man shouting not two. It is entirely possible that the girl's parents scolded her later, but it was such a close call they were just glad that she survived - I think I would have done the same under the circumstances. In terms of 'getting a life' - well we did that day, and thank goodness for that. If the drivers came from left to right when looking out from Pirates' Bar, Joe, then that is correct. In my experience almost all deliveries come in that way.
