Hi guys! We are trying to budget for our next visit and can't remember the cost of hiring out one of Sam's boats....an absolute hoot, by the way, and thoroughly recommended....it helps if you're not still tipsy from the night before (husband please take note...) Any ideas?

Hi Shushopper, walked past Sam's & the cost is 50/60 euros for 4 hours depending on the size of the motor. pete.

Hi shushopper ask about fuel prices before you go because i think fuel is on top of the price pete has given you. couple of weeks ago when we were there my son and son inlaw were charged an extra 20E for fuel for two hour's hire.

Sam does seem to be very expensive this year, we spoke to him while there last week and he told us for a 2 hour fishing trip or would be 35 for the boat plus 15 for the driver/fisherman and then another 10 or so euros to cover the fuel

We hired a boat for 2 ours...had to pay 50.-euros for the boat en 25.- for the fuel! That is way to much. Better look for another place because it's not allowed to go to the shore to snorkel. You have to stay in the open water. The guy is a crook!

Boat Hire is expensive everywhere, and Sam does advertise his costs on a board outside his shop. There should be no surprises. I do know that Phillipos in Kassiopi also asks you not to go ashore because of the risk of propellor damage.

You have to stay in the open water. The guy is a crook! If you want to snorkel the dive shop in Acharavi can arrange that, or take a trip to Kassiopi which has pebbly beaches and lovely clear water. The sandy bay of St Georges is not great for snorkeling as the visibility is generally not that good. Or try any of the beaches between Kassiopi and Nissaki. Jan

Just paid 40€ for 2 hours; then 44€ for fuel when we got back!
He said we used 22ltrs which I find very hard to believe and at 2€ a litre for marine diesel its extremely expensive
