Does anyone know how long your passport needs to be valid for, when visiting Corfu. Got a passport that expires on 29th June - we come home on the 7th. I know years ago when I used to go into the travel agent to book that they'd ask if your passport was valid for 6 months after your return.

Don't think they have to be valid for the 6 months after return now Jackie as we and Greece are in the EU, but as you only return 7th July yours will have run out, so I would think this wouldn't be valid., but I'm not 100% sure so may be best to check it out with passport office xx

Hi Jackie, As far as i am aware if you are an E.U citzen you only need a passport valid for your stay. This quote is taken from the Foreign Office website: Entry Requirements - Passport Validity You must hold a valid passport to enter Greece. For stays of up to three months your passport must be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. You do not need any additional period of validity on your passport beyond this. However, it is always sensible to have a short period of extra validity on your passport in case of any unforeseen delays to your departure. End Quote. However some airlines can be a bit stroppy about this and i would suggest you contact yours to check what their particular requirements are as this can sometimes difffer from the official Passport Office / Foreign Officeadvice. Best thing is for you email them then print off any reply they send you to avoid a possible problem at the check in desk or airport. Hope this helps. Regards David

Am I correct in thinking that you can renew your passport up to six months before expiry, and the difference will be added to your new document?

Hi Steve, You can add up to a max of 9 months to your new passport by applying a max of 9 months before your old one runs out.

Mine expires at the end of June so had to get it renewed for our April visit. Better to be safe than sorry.

Have checked with Easyjet & they have said that as long as it's valid on the day of our return, they will accept it, but to check with the Embassy for the country that i'm visiting, to check that's their policy. lol Will go with what David has posted & what Easyjet have told me at their end.
I personally think he should renew his passport before then, but that's up to him.

I was all set to renew three of our passports at a cost of £200 which I'd obviously rather spend in Roda. This thread made me question whether I really needed to spend this money before the holiday so I emailed the Greek National Tourism Organisation yesterday to clarify.
This was their response:
"Thank you for your email. Given that you hold a full British or EU passport the only requirement is to be valid for the duration of your stay and there is no need for 3 or 6 months validity in advance".
