hello to all, we have visited corfu before at sidari, but we have not been to roda, [although we have been to many of the other greek islands. we are due to stay at the afrodite half board in about a months time and wondered if they cater for a mixed cyuisine now, as ive read in the past it was mainly a greek restaurant serving mostly greek food. but this hopefully has changed as i understand thomsons are now the agent. my other question is , my daughter enjoys snorkelling and could anyone advise us the best area in roda to do this in the sea, in my past experience the best results are if you swim near a few rocks, we are at the afrodite, so directions if possible please help and take care cog

Hi Cog, i don't stay at the Afroditi but use it's restaurant when i'm in Roda, your breakfast will be continental with an option to pay extra for a full english, the evening menu is limited but caters for every taste and they have a snack bar area selling all the usual suspects. There are some rocks sticking out of the sea right infront of the hotel and you can book snorkeling trips at any of the travel agents in the village, there is also a dive shop in the next town (Acharavi) that does organised dive trips for different levels of experience. Hope this helps. pete.

Hi. We stayed in the Afrodite about 7 years ago. Rooms were basic but very clean. Food we found was very nice, a varied menu, the steaks I remember were excellent. Only problem we had was getting a sunbed outside the pool, so we went up the road to the Panorama (I think it's called?) and a particularly obnoxious Scotland supporter who thought it was brilliant that Portugal knocked England out of the European Championships. However he soon got put straight by the hotel management and no more was heard from him lol. Sorry can't help with the scuba diving - I don't do water lol.

Hi cog, we stayed at Afrodite 6years ago, we found the restaurant does English and Greek food. You can even buy Pukka pies there. Snorkelling can't help you with. We enjoyed our stay at Afrodite but on subsequent visits we have gone selfcatering as I like to get up and make a cup of tea. We found the breakfast very filling, though continental, we ended up taking half of it for our lunch. Bev

I will be staying at the Afroditi AGAIN this year (have done for several yrs) our friends have been staying there since the late 70's and will do so again this yr (we all meet up there)..breakfast more than enough, as Bev said, it's handy to take some away for lunch.....there are rocks by the Harbour Bar (a mooring for some fishing boats) and I'm sure your daughter will be able to snorkel there,...out of hotel turn right and keep walking you can't miss it..........have a great time and i'm sure you family will too..Kaz

thanks to all of you who posted, i said that we had not been to roda but we have just realised that when we stayed at sidari, we hired a car and visited my wifes sister who was in roda, { forgot all about this until my wife found the old map i was given by the car hire firm] and on this i had marked roda { where they were staying}. so we did visit roda some 8 or 9 years ago, and i remember walking round and it looked only half built, { a lot of typical greek building shells if you know what i mean} i am sure it will look a lot better now as these will be occupied now, and a bit bigger village im sure, cant wait for the end of the month. take care all
