Maggie will be offering customers this year, a traditional Mediterranean style of eating. Greece, Spain & Italy have long enjoyed selections of small tempting appetisers to compliment a carafe of wine or a cold beer. In the case of Spain, north African influences are also found in their cuisine, bringing spice & heat choices to the palate. There will be a wide selection of such appetisers, to be enjoyed singly, possibly as a starter, a main meal or part of a larger selection for groups of friends just enjoying a relaxed drink.
This love of first courses around the Mediterranean, reflects the region’s reliance on seasonal produce and its commitment to simple preparation. Olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, onions, and fresh herbs are the foundation of all Mediterranean cooking and a tremendous range of flavours and textures emanate from those ingredients in all manner of combinations.
Authentic 'tapas' from Spain and 'mezethes' from Greece, similar to the 'hors d'oeuvres' and 'entrees' from France, Italy's 'antipasti' and 'primi piatti', and the 'meze' of the Levant and North Africa – all of these can be enjoyed in Maggie’s casual & convivial ‘bistro’ setting. The very nature of ‘tapas’ and ‘mezes’ means that diners aren't confined to three courses, but can spend as much or as little as they like; an option that will suit many in these more austere times.
Maggie will still retain some of her old favourites, so if it's 'Fish & Chips' or just a burger that you want, then you won't be left out.

sounds like we might actually try Maggies this year if she is doing mezes. Not and not repeat for full English breakfast or Sunday roasts.

Hi Nikki - I believe that Maggie will open at around mid-day this year. She will not be doing breakfasts and I don't think she has done Sunday roasts for two years now. The mezes are great for a group of people or a family like yours Nikki - order a little of each person's favourites and share them between you. That way, nobody is disappointed. Our policy became - if there are five people order six dishes - one for each plus one - seems to work.

Think Maggie is on another winner there. Sometimes all you need/want is a light fresh snack and a beer/wine. Hope it is a great success for her.

Can recommend the meze & tapas at Maggies, you can order as much or as little as you like with a varied menu to suit all tastes. Having this meal even allows you to keep some room for the best trifle in Roda pete.

Interesting that you should say that about English food, maria - certainly there are many places offering breakfasts and all-day snacks, but in the evening I can think of only Maggie who does a range of UK favourites and even she is doing Greek meze & Spanish tapas now. Pirates' Bar do a daytime special now - usually a UK dish, and of course a few places provide Sunday lunch, but almost all of the restaurants are Greek with a touch of Italian thrown in. Am I missing someone?
