We have just spent 12 days in out of season Roda. Did we enjoy it? Absolutely. Is it for everyone? Absolutely not. The village itself was very quiet for the first week, almost deserted, but in the last few days everything was starting to come to life. It was lovely to stroll around and see familiar faces who were all surprised to see us at this time of year. The weather was very kind to us which made a big difference as we saw the sun at some point every day, often for most of the day (did get a bit breezy though). We were able to spend most days on the beach - no doubt the locals wrapped up in jackets or fleeces and jeans thought we were mad but we have come back with very good suntans... Our evenings were spent in Pirates Bar playing pool and darts with the locals and watching the finishing touches being added to the new room. It blends in really well with the existing space, hard to believe it was a shop last season! The best bit about Roda in April (apart from just being there) was the peace & quiet and the fact that everyone has time to talk. The worst bit (and even this wasn't so bad) was the temperature of the tiled floor in the apartment - bare feet to be avoided whenever possible!! We had a great time and can't wait to go back in 12 weeks.

Thanks Amanda - that's a great review for those who are thinking of doing what you have done. It got a bit chillier since you left, but it should improve from tomorrow. It is amazing once it starts, just how quickly the temperatures move from chilly spring to hot summer - all in a few days. The village has stepped up another gear now and will build to a crescendo at midnight on the day before the season starts. Everything literally last minute, but that's what we love. To deal with the marble floors, you will just have to come in November and buy a couple of rugs off the gypsies. Steve
