If you look at the bigger picture on this you are still safer in Roda than most places. Any crimes are far and few between. I would still walk around Roda on my own at night were as I wouldn't do that where I live. Time's are pretty bad but I am sure who ever did this was not from the village and any thefts from people's room's is usually opportunist thieves when people leave their doors or windows open. Rules for being on holiday should be the same at home. Lock all valuable in a safe if possible and make sure door's and windows are closed. It just common sense like at home .. This time next week I will be packed and ready to leave on Monday ..

abbie63 I think your comments would probably be better in the break in at hotel thread. This wasn't a case of a tourist leaving a door open. This was a case of some-one breaking into a locked building and smashing through a wall to another shop. As sthelensaint says it is Petros 2nd breakin and that is why he is packing up for good. I still feel safe in Roda, in fact I felt safe travelling around Greece on my own (even Athens) this year. Unfortunately it is a sign of the times. Enjoy your holiday. Bev

I realised that I could have put the post into the hotel break in thread and I might have missed out a full stop in this thread. Duh What I was trying to get at that the break in at Petro's wouldn't have been one of the local villagers.. Sorry for the mis-understanding and it's really bad that someone has to pack up their lively hood. Roda for me has made me feel the safest I have in a very long time and that is why I love it so much . Thank you Bev I will have a wonderful time there x

I too have always felt safe in Roda - but to second guess who the culprit(s) of the break in are is in my opinion very short-sighted - unless of course someone has already been apprehended and we know for certain from where they originate. Why not leave the detective work to the police!

I didn't think anyone had guessed who the culprits are. All I merely said that I didn't think it would be one of the villagers. To be honest I would be very disappointed if it was. Sorry if I offended you by saying that.

Not offended in the least - and I too would be astonished should any villager be responsible for this deed - we may never find out who is responsible - but until such time as someone is apprehended we cannot say categorically who it was or wasnt.
