Unfortunately this story is true Jomike, I was told that the thieves actually broke into the 5 Roses next door then broke through a connecting wall between the two. I've not heard how much was stolen, only that Petros usually puts everything away in a safe at night, let's hope he did it that night. pete.

Yeah, I know that Petros packs everything away at night. Hope his loss wasn't too bad.

Oh Pete that is awful. :-( How both Pete plus Yiannis and Eleni didn't suffer too much loss. Must ring Eleni later. I bought a lovely necklace of Peter when I was there this year. I can't beleive I have heard this on top of the news I got yesterday. A friend of mine from Australia and her husband landed in Athens yesterday and I was so excited for them, telling them where to go. They were out exploring and a gold necklace was ripped straight off her neck. So sad it is the sign of the times in Greece.:-( Bev

Have just spoken to Eleni of 5 Roses. Sorry Kaz, you will not be buying jewellry this year. Peter is not re-opening. He has packed up and gone to England. He lost a fair bit but luckily the really good stuff was safe. Eleni and Yiannis only lost a little apart from the damage to the 5Roses. Bev

Maybe he's not made it home to the UK yet, but that is his plans.

Petros did lock normally lock everything in the safe at night, but I was told he had left out a small amount of silver on that one occasion. I have not been able to see him to get the full picture. There have been a small number of property thefts, mainly from businesses and other residents. I have not heard of any attacks on people.

I hope I have caused no confusion. The attack on my friend WAS in Athens just after they landed. She is unhurt just shaken and upset about her loss. More so as she had just landed from Egypt with very unsavoury comments on that place. Bev
