Email from Ryanair yesterday to announce they are flying to Corfu from Stanstead from June this year. Three flights a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday and to celebrate this news they are offering 1 million flights for £7 a ticket - bookable from now until Monday. Anyone wanting a cheap holiday should get in there now.

That is good news for Corfu - there has been nothing announced in the travel press yet, but it is interesting to see that Ryanair have had a row with the airport authorities at Alicante and withdrawn some thirty flights from Spain. Maybe their loss is our gain. It's up to us now to prove we can justify a regular service.

Well having checked and double checked independent and package. Still voting for package. Mr o'Leary's latest flight plans do not interest me. Stanstead only? All the extras? Give me Olympic every time. Though saying that having a sister weekend to Dublin in Sept flying Ryanair, will be packing everything into hand luggage. NOT looking forward to the experience.

If it means the difference between going to Corfu or not - I know which I would go for, and hopefully they will start flying from a Northern airport before too long. We've travelled with Ryanair many times - with hand luggage only - and I have to say I am impressed with the service, and you would be surprised what you can get into a hand luggage case - we are going to Corfu that way in June and after having a practice pack I have no worries.

Got to agree with Lisydaly, they were the first budget airline we travelled on after the XL collapse - couldn't fault them, more competition can only be a good thing - lets hope they expand their routes to include more u.k. airports. pete.

I'm with you on that one If Ryanair was the only airline going to Corfu I'd rather walk as far as I could and then float the rest of the way on an inner tube!!

A Ryanair spokesman has said that the company "is delighted to deliver yet another low fares summer sun route from London Stansted. Greek tourism has been strangled by high fare airlines and greedy tour operators who have been making out like bandits in the absence of a low fares airline to deliver the competition that Greek tourism needs.”
Can't argue with the principle - let's now see if they can deliver.

Saint & Kernowman, you've both obviously had a bad experience with Ryanair, could you share it with us so that we are all aware of the problems of flying with them ? pete.

We use Ryan Air when flying to Dublin, and have never had any problems with them, I would definiatly consider them for a cheap break. Currently they are fling Mondays and Thursdays and only from Stansted though which restricts us a little.
