How Do you mourn the 'passing' of a friend ? I don't think you should ...... I think instead that you should celebrate the joy that she has given, freely, to all. That strange crooked smile, the fun-filled eyes, the caustic comment and the helpful advice ....... that will never leave me. Safe journey Stella, I hope you're in a place in the sun where the beer flows freely and there are stupid Tourists you can put to rights. A little place in my heart belongs to you. Val, I hope that you read this, Shirley and I never got to know you very well. Our fault,. Condolences is such a hollow word for someone who has lost a partner. Our thoughts are with you .......Johno and Shirley

It has been a warm & sunny day and a large crowd gathered at both the Church and the cemetery for Stella's funeral. Many of her friends have gathered this evening at Skippy's to celebrate her life and her passing. She was very well liked in Roda and will be sadly missed.

Hi Steve It sounds like a fitting day - feels so strange not to be there! Please have to a toast to life, laughter (and Sponge Bob!) with whoever is there on our behalf!
We're both well but missing Roda. Where's the best place to send a card to Val? Would the Roundabout Bar or Oscars get it there?

Not sure Lynda - Hilary at Roundabout Bar on Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday, but the post comes on Tuesdays & Fridays. Oscars open every day, so that might be best. Post code is TK49081.

Stella was loved by all who knew her, and even Amber (the dog) attended her service

It's a week now since Stella passed away and today, for the first time on her own, I saw Val. I passed on the messages & sentiments expressed on this forum and Val is very appreciative. She has asked me to thank all of those who were thinking of her at such a difficult time.

Thanks for that Steve. You know I'm sure you Roda-ites view the ramblings of us lot who are in exile in UK during the winter season (mainly via this forum!) as just a symptom of missing Roda. In fact, the people are such a big part of what we miss and what we look forward to when departure dates are looming. I can't quite imagine Val without Stella. Not much to say that others haven't said already but I suppose I just hope that those who live in Roda know how central they are to the regular holiday-makers' warm experience of being there and to that thing which brings them back again and again.

Thanks Lynda - I hope your message to Val gets to her. I'm sure she will have a lot to do at the bar still, but she will not be opening for business again.
