The 2 sites, I've seen him on are still coming in more expensive than going to & from Manchester on a train, staying overnight in a hotel, flying with Easyjet & booking direct with Makis.

Just for the record, for those people who have firmly booked their accommodation at Maki's Apartments, I have finally tracked him down, had a coffee with him and confirmed your reservations for 2011.
Strangely, the bulk of his bookings from the tour operator are for September and he has only two apartments left for that month. There are no bookings yet for May.

He did sneak in under the radar to prune his roses, Jacks - got to get your priorities right! "Never mind the rooms, but what about my flowers?"
New TVs in all the rooms this year, don't forget - as if you want to stay in and watch a Greek soap!

If anyone is still looking for sites that do flights and accomodation we have found Makis on each of the following when we were making our September booking: Monarch, On the Beach, Sunshine Holidays, and Easy Jet,

Just looking at some of the flight-only deals on Monarch and it seems they are selling them under the guise of 'flexibility.' There is a trend in the travel industry towards total customer choice - allowing you to construct you own package. This is fine, unless it becomes something of a wolf in sheep's clothing.
A typical offer would be 'Flights from £60' which turn out to be £119.50 per person - including taxes. Still not too bad until you see the total of £389 for two people. The old tax bogeyman which everyone has become aware of is now being exploited in that it is included in the price - so:
2 adults at £82.00 each £164.00
Flight Meals 2 adults at £12.00 each £24.00 Taxes and Fuel 2 passengers at £35.00 each £70.00 ATOL protection 2 passengers at £2.50 each £5.00 Pre-Booked Seats (Read more details here) 2 adults at £12.00 each £24.00 Pre Purchase Baggage (20kg allowance per person) Your inclusive hold baggage allowance is 0kg per person. 2 passengers at £25.00 each £50.00
The items in bold are, of course, obligatory, and that produces the total of £119.50. Taking the place now of the 'airport taxes' dodge are meals, pre-booked seats & luggage which, when added together, make another £49 per person. I can see that many coming on holiday might be prepared to sacrifice meals and pre-booked seats, but luggage? How can they justify this?
If you do book online, do not forget to de-select the things you can do without.

This is also the case with Easy Jet, I think there's only Thomson and Thomas Cook who include luggage these days and that's only on package hols and they still try get you to upgrade to 20k from 15k luggage for an extra 15 quid each, by inflight meals at 15 each, and prebook seats at 15 each (yes I confess I do do the prebook seat thing as I am a nervy flyer so need to know nick will be next to me).One thing to consider luggage wise is these days a number of providers if booked online let you book just one lot of luggage for one person and the other can go without(in other words you share the 20k)so if you have a light large case and don't mind a lesser allowance this is worth considering and can save you upto 25 pound.
On this occasion we have only booked accomodation via Monarch, but in fairness we did a package to Lanzarote with them in Oct and even with the extras in their prices were still comparable, and we found the service good for us~as they didn't do the reps in resort stuff so it was more like travelling independently which we prefer(though if you like having a rep around I can imagine you would feel short changed).
