Hi. Can anybody tell me how long the coach transfers from airport to Roda have been this season? Last year with Thomsons/First Choice we had a 3hr transfer. In June this year we decided to have a taxi to and from airport but it is a little costly! We fly out again on Friday 27th August and I am wondering whether to brave the coach transfer or book a taxi.

It still takes 3 hours to transfer to Roda from the airport. I did it in June and I was the last one left on the coach. The previous year I was dropped in Acharavie and had to get a Taxi on to Roda!!!!!!!!!!!It was a very tedious journey and frankly one that I will avoid when I next come to Roda.

Lynda101 tells a good ( or bad) story of the coach going past the crossroads in Roda several times before they were eventually dropped off. It's a nice journey up the east coast the first time you do it in daylight, after that get me a taxi everytime. pete.

Wouldn't go near a coach!
I remember being in the resort, sitting having a drink, with Makis (having had a paddle in the swimming pol) & friend's text us to tell us they were STILL at the airport. In saying that, they did arrive less than an hour later - came straight there, from the airport.

Yes, if it's your first visit and it's daylight, the journey is breathtaking but beautiful...having been by coach a few times (all ok) but a couple of years ago it took OVER 3hrs we were gasping!!! and so tired, so, ever since we have booked a taxi...about an hour

Yes taxis are great, but as a single mum and with the taxi costs at £100 euros for the return journey its a luxury I will have to forgo in futiure, thats two days budget!. This unfortunately virtually rules out making my own way there, although Easyjet does seem to offer shuttle buses at a lower rate but it looks like thats only in high season.

I'm the same as Kaz, defo Roda by taxi and return by coach. We saved up our 20p's and that paid for the taxi, it is so worth it. You are so lucky to be going back. Enjoy. xx

Hi Sue, make sure you book one of the village taxis as they are much cheaper than the ones at the airport. pete.

A good way to save your 20 pence pieces is to buy a tube of Smarties - eat the contents - and fill up the empty tube with coins. From memory, each one takes between 30-40 coins. We used to do it as a fund-raising project it for a charity we ran. We even got a local shopkeeper to give us his unsold Smarties when they were out of date.

Interesting to note that Thomsons have increased their coach transfer for Sept to £20. It was £10 in June !! Also since the last travel company collapse (Kiss), the flight costs for week from 17th Sept has increased from £158 last week, to £218 this week. They never miss a trick.

I notice a number of people take a taxi to Roda but the bus back to the airport. Is this the service bus or the Tour company bus? If it's the service bus how do you get from the bus terminus out to the airport? Is there a connecting bus or do you get a taxi from there?
