Sorry folks - didn't I say - Golden Sand is owned and run by Alex's dad, Adonis. Behind the bar is Panos and out front is Liz (Lisa) - ex Smileys. It is the perfect place to go for a sunny terrace with a view, the fish menu is very popular - particularly the lobster - and there is a Greek night every Saturday. The lunchtime baguettes are beautiful and most of the produce is homegrown by Adonis, who also catches much of the fresh fish. It is just 6 or 7 minutes stroll along the beach from the Afrodite - do not miss it.

Can you actually get to it by walking along the beach or do you need to walk along the road?
regards, Kath.

Yeah, it's the opposite way. Go onto the beach & turn left. You can see it from the beach.

If there is enough time, Golden Sand should have a page under Roda Pages by tomorrow night - map included.

Fiona is still at the house at the rear of The Golden Sand, and I beleive that Antonis is there also. Christina, I think lives in Acharvie, and of course works with Alex at Smilies.
I do hope that The Golden Sand will be supported, as I remember it many years ago, full of atmosphere, and life. When I saw it closed and almost derelict in recent years, it made me very sad. To see it open again was fantastic, but it is early days, and no doubt is just ticking over like so many other businesses these days. If you are going over to Roda this year, give it a go, it's location is superb, and the food is excellent too.

I too was sad to see the Golden Sand close as I loved sitting under the vines sipping a coffee and watching the sea. So pleased when I saw it was open and quickly made tracks. Enjoyed same view sat on comfy settee, supped my coffee. Bril. Nice note birds had nested over mirror in ladies, baby birds could be seen. Poop guard in place to save sink. Sooooo cute. Will visit again when out in September. Six weeks today. ; Yes Johno coffee!!!!

We often walked along and sat on the beds for the day and had our lunch there, Fiona was behind the bar (with the bird in the cage) and the children used to be running around, so sad when things change, but hope they are all happy now and glad that Golden Sands has opened up again, we shall be along there to have a "look see" in Sept.
