Hello everyone, and Petra thank you for the invitation to join the Roda Forum. I am pleased and happy to be here. I am sorry it took me so long to visit the forum, but housework, dogs and facebook consumed my time. Any way I better introduce my self. My name is Spiros and in 1978 I worked as a bar waiter on the Roda Beach Hotel. I don't know if the hotel still the same or has changed name. I made a lot of friends over the weeks and months, and in the village too, I met a lot of people. It was a small restaurant/taverna run by Theo (Theodoro) and his brother. Evgenios who was the sea ski teacher. The olive press discotheque where I used to go to relax every night after the end of my shift. I lost my job beginning of July because I had an argument with an Italian customer after he refused to pay me for the coffee I served him 3 hours earlier, it was 2:30 am when he finally decided to pay me 90 minutes after my shift had ended. Next day he complained to the manager lied by accusing me for pushing him in to the swimming pool. Thinking about it now, I wish I had pushed him. If any of the members in the forum has anything to ask me, please go ahead. I am sure Petra will notify me on facebook I did take a look at the pictures members have posted here, the village of Roda has changed a lot. I also hope the restaurant next to the olive press discoteque still there. Last time I visited Roda was in 1986. I hope one day to visit again.

First I would like to say Spiro, you can login to reply , because you commented as a quest .If you login we all know which Spiros wrote the comment (there are a lot of them on the island of Corfu ;D ). Second I am afraid I have to dissapoint you about the Golden Sand area (where Olive Press used to be). I was there last summer and realised almost all of it was gone... OlivePress and KriKri are not there anymore, the new hotel is called Robolla. The entrance at the beach is the only thing that stayed the same I think... The little shop on the left side of what used to be OlivePress is still there , as is the former "GoldenSand" taverna. The taverna is now closed but recently they used it one-night- (day)only for the wedding of Alex and Jane (Alex Giannotis of Smileys Rooftop restaurant). You have to know that I was at Rodabeach hotel in 1981, visited the GoldenBeach area again during my stay in Ipsos in 1983 (Krikri had already changed into a "Hamburger" restaurant), and again in the year of 2000 I think. That year OlivePress was still there ,we had something to eat , but it was nothing like it was before... Talking about the waterskischool, I remember Evgenios (Eugene)and Andreas where the owners...and if my information is right, Evgenios unfortunately died a while ago.... One of the younger boys that worked/helped out at the waterskischool back in 1981, now owns the watersports-school in Roda: Stamatis . I am not sure you found all of the old photo's Spiro, but you can have a look at PiratesBar's "ning", I posted a few there as well. piratesphotos.ning.com/profile/petra?xg_source=profiles_memberListMaybe you recognize the people on the photo's , the 2 men in the middle of the "dance"photo used to work at RodaBeach hotel as a waiter.
