From now until mid-August, there is a series of concerts in Corfu Town which is nothing short of spectacular. With artists from Corfu and all over the world, there is a complete mix of styles. UK pop fans can see Eric Burdon & The Animals at the old Fort on July 28th. For the full programme, see CORFU FESTIVAL

The following notice is taken from the online Greek and English newspaper, "The Corfu Today", dated Thursday 23rd July 2009. This looks like a good evenings entertainment of Greek Classical music, in a fabulous location. Wish I could be there.

Corfu Festival: On 29 July, the symphony concert of the City of Athens
Songs, kantsonetes, excerpts from famous operas and operettas will be performed by the Symphony Orchestra of Athens under the musical direction of George Katsaros as part of the events in the International Festival of Corfu (Ionian Concerts). The event, which is dedicated to the environment, will be held on Wednesday July 29 at 9 pm at the Old Fort, with the support of the Corfu Prefecture, the Municipality of Corfu and the Ionian University, and participation of the young musician Kerkyraios Dionyssis. This is the first recital, which directs George Katsaros, Corfu and the event therefore becomes particularly important. Indeed, George Katsaros had long before expressed his desire to be prefect for this event on our island. The Prefect in the meeting had referred to Mr. Katsaros is that debt and desire of Corfu. Soloist at the event are: Stamatis Beris, Nikos Stefanou, Demetrios Kasioumis, Yiannis Christopoulos and klarinetistas Dionyssis.[/i]

Eric Barton and Animals in Corfu-The concert of the year
The Corfu Festival will present next Tuesday, in public, one of the greatest artists of the rock scene of all time, the legendary Eric Barton and the band of Animals. Undoubtedly this is one of the greatest artist who has ever been to Corfu. The artist whose voice "jealous" with statements like those stars, Bob Ntylan and Mick Tzaker. Together the Americans will receive great musicians, and the surprise of the evening will have Greek names. This is the Cretan lyrarisa Georgia Ntagaki which will accompany their beloved melodies of the Animals. A unique show which will be discussed throughout Europe, as the channel of Corfu is a pan-European tour of Eric Barton. An event that characterizes the quality of Corfu International Festival and marks the cultural events of the island. The concert will take place on Tuesday July 28 at 9 pm at the Old Fortress, Corfu Town. Those interested can obtain tickets from: Municipal Theater of Corfu Aktaion Coffee House Music, Boatman's World (Kontokali) and Compass Bar/Restaurant (Roda).
