Guess away dave. Since my first visit to Roda in 1986 (missed only 3 years since, wedding two children) I have advised a large number of people to visit the village and the vast majority are still visiting regularly.

Where are you flying from, Saffy? I had problems trying to fly from Glasgow, this year.
It's amazing how prices can go up in a matter of hours, isn't it?

Hi Saffy. Will just add my twopeno'th....although most of it has already been said....We first arrived in Roda in 1988 after many holidays in Spain and I didn't think I would like it......how wrong was I?
After 3 days I felt I had never been anywhere else and felt like one of the villagers.....because that's how we were treated. People couldn't do enough for us......I couldn't believe the kindness and friendliness we received.
My young daughter (Kezzer) was with us also and came for many years with us, now she brings her own son when she can......she loved Roda so much she even came on her honeymoon, even tho' she could have gone anywhere.
It has changed quite a bit since the early days......but it is still the same......persuade your OH....you wont be sorry.
We have stayed in Elenitsa twice, ( last year & 2006). They are very central to everything.......
Sorry I've gone on a bit.......got carried away.....
Jean

I stayed in Elinitsa too.....good few years back now. And as Jean says, they're right in the centre of the village - but off the road a wee bit, so not noisy or anything. Even the supermarket is at the end of the lane leading up to them. lol
Hope you can persuade the hubby to go.

I phone the travel company and asked to speak to the guy who I had spoken to earlier in the day and he said he would call me tonight .. (I told him he'd quoted £180 and I thought to myself that if he rang and offered me it at that then I would definitely book .. told my hubby I was booking if it were that price .. however I am still waiting for him to call .. and as they close at 9 and it's err .. gone 9, I'm not holding my breath .... Looks like a no go I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU though .. to all of you who have made me feel welcome on the board and offered me advice. Maybe one day hey? Am going to bed and going to sleep, so I can't think about it.

Hiya Saffy and welcome to the forum ;D
I will echo my mum (JeanP) its a fab place that holds a special place in everyone on this forum heart.
I have been going since I was 11 and I'm now 33 and its still my fav place to go, I also echo everyone on here who says its like going home as I have grown up with a lot of the local, and when you arrive back in Roda you are made to feel at home and also get quite tipsy as they all insist on sharing in a few drinks with you as you catch up.......
Roda is a great place for whatever kind of holiday you like (relaxed, lively, family ect.....) I now enjoy a relaxed holiday with my family, but when I was younger I spent many a nights dancing the night away (with Spiro n Socks from the harbour bar mainly)......
All I can say is go to Roda and I'm sure it will hold a special place in your heart to!!!!

Hi Saffy, welcome to the forum, am a relatively newcomer to Roda only been coming for 6 years, as soon as you get there, unpack & have you're first walk around the village it's like being home, everyone greets like you like old friends. You can do as much or as little as you want (in my case little), then go out for a good meal and a drink or two and relax. Sadly because of work can only go for a week this year but wouldn't miss it for the world. Hope you get something booked, am sure you'll love it as much as we all do.
Joolsd :)x

All I can say is go forth and enjoy and you will become as addicted as the rest of us!!!! let us know when and where you book, there is lots of information on the different accomodations on the site or just ask! were always happy to help!!!! lynda

Umm well .. I've managed to book somewhere .. but sadly it's not Roda .. nor is it Corfu .. lol .. it's Crete ...
however .. you have set me off wanting to visit Roda, so hopefully, in the not tooooo distant future, I will be sipping a drink in a taverna in Roda.
